WSGS 101.1 is back!

After about 3 years of almost being off the air, WSGS 101.1 Hazard,KY is back with a full Class C monster signal as of today. If you've missed having this one as a SE Kentucky DX beacon, miss it no more. The big dog is back and he's barking loudly.

Per the FCC filings, lightning damage to the antenna--which if money were no problem, could have been fixed in weeks rather than years. They also moved to a new site in the process.

I bet that made 101.1 a great frequency for listening for E-skip while WSGS was off or was there another 101.1 that could be heard in its absence?

At over 200 miles to WSGS, it's been a good frequency all along. Nearest 101.1 is a 6KW in Cincinnati which isn't much of a problem. There is a CP for Bloomfield,IN which if built will pretty well trash the frequency for me.

No dice here! But if WLZQ South Whitley, IN was off the air in addition to my local 101.1 translator like what happened for a period in August of 2011, I would certainly have a chance at it.

WRIF gets in the way more than anything else here in Vermilion, OH but I will have to try nulling them and see what might pop up in its place.
