WSHD

???

Curious..does WSHD-FM 91.7 MHz ever broadcast ?

12 watts ? By charts they would cover Eastport fine. (well..what's there ?)

I just note it has its own call letters and ----

Any air-checks ??

(former resident of Eastport..when a kid..)

Yes, they are on the air quite regularly now....I was last down that way 3 weeks ago, and caught them while drving south on US Route 1, from Calais back home, and surprised they were on during the summer...sounded automated, but at least on! I am overdue for another trip down there....Also on 91.7 not far away is WUMM from the University of Maine Machias. They put out a good signal withsom einteresting programming.

ya know. I bet they could have more power if they really wanted to. (??) Interfere with who ?

WUMM 91.7 Machias; only 40 or so miles away by air,.. WSHD would have to find another frequency..and surprsingly even in far down-east Maine, there aren't many FM spots left, and it would have to get the approval of the Canadian CRTC folks. It's only 2 miles across the bay to New Brunswick. Maybe they could get 92.1, but nothing much else open below 91.7.

There's 3 91.7's in Downeast Maine: Light of Life (the 95.3/88.9 crew out of Augusta) in Ellsworth, WUMM and WHSD. Ellsworth to Machias is twice as far as Machias to Eastport though so a frequency change would have to occur, probably in to the commercial band.
