WSHR - New Dance friendly CHR

Granted it's a non-commercial, but it covers western Suffolk pretty well, have them on tonight. The signal is just barely audible here in central Nassau, and I have heard some dance music including Angel City's Sunrise. Reminds me of WLIR on 92.7 when they were mixing in the dance with pop/CHR, without any R&B Hip Hop hits.
A CHR like this sounds good, and in the suburbs having new pop, rock, and dance hits on a CHR works well.
They call themselves the "new 91.9 WSHR". I guess they finally gave up playing old jazz and are now playing music people might actually listen to.
They're playing Livin Joy "I'm a Dreamer" now. I am going to have to see if I can get a better signal, this station is awesome!

I think it was a specialty show. just flipped it on after reading the post & they were playing jazz

they were playing a CBS FM oldies format this morning, and heavy metal this afternoon..i
t's a high school station, I did a shift there in the early 70s(until I dedicated the "Beer Barrel Polka" to Vice Principal Mr. Bebee, because...well...to me, he looked like a walking talking beer barrel.....
and then I was DONE at WSHR!

Well whatever they do at night sounds good. It sounded like a CHR should sound. Most CHR's completely neglect new dance music, even if it by Madonna. WBLI could learn a lesson or two from the programming I heard that night!

BLI sells ads that cover all of LI into NYC....WSHR sells full page ads for the Home Coming Parade Football Journal; obviously, BLI has to be a bit more careful with it's ad based programming than a high school station does...
