Seastar was one of the Capstar operating companies ( John King was the senior VP in charge). This followed SFX Broadcastings purchase by Capstar. (Actually, SFX was originally called Capstar until Robert FX Sillerman and Steve Hicks took the company public.) When Steve Hicks resigned from SFX, he resurrected Capstar and started buying stations funded by brother Tom and Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst. Then Capstar was renamed AM-FM after additional staions were acquired, including those of Chancellor and Evergreen. AM-FM still operated the "Star"regions including Seastar, until the purchase by/merger with Clear Channel, which followed CC acquisition of Jacor. it's the Jacor-AM-FM combination that drove the CC station count to 1200.
