WSJC-AM, Magee, was broadcasting yesterday.

I attended a funeral in Lamar County yesterday. As I was driving home, I did not enjoy any of the radio stations to which I usually listen. So I hit the SCAN button and a station come on. I thought that it was WSHO in New Orleans. I knew that I usually did not pick up that station, but I was farther south in the state than I usually am and yesterday's weather could have been having some unusual atmospheric conditions, so I just thought that it was that station.

I heard the station give two identifications. I did not really hear the second one. Then, around 5:00, there was another one and the station went off the air. I was really surprised (pleasantly surprised) that the station was WSJC 810 in Magee.

I do now know where I was when I first began picking it up, but I was driving from Sumrall to Bassfield to Carson to Prentiss to New Hebron, to Shivers, to Georgetown, and then to Crystal Springs.

There was no real programming on. The Gospel of Matthew was being read. I am sure that it was a recording, although it did not sound like the Alexander Scorby recordings. Part of Matthew was read, then it started over at the very beginning of Matthew.

I listened for the station today, but it has not been on yet.

I heard it too, Must have been full power. it stopped the scan button in Jackson. I haven't heard it full power in several years. It appears it was on the air briefly so they wouldn't lose the license. It's a shame to see that big 50,000 watt blow torch just sitting in moth balls year after year. I bet it's been at least 10 years or more since it's had regular programming for any length of time.

This morning (Monday, March 3), the station is broadcasting again.

The first program that heard was a show about Seventh-Day Adventest Hospitals and Healthcare.
