WSJC

Jeff: if you "search" WSJC in the archives, you will find several posts regarding their status. Regards...JBI

I could have sworn I heard something on 810 around christmas but it was very weak. but it was definitly christian talk. If you listen carefully in the late afternoon or early morning sometimes you can hear "Alabama 810" a country station. Some days you could hear it under WSJC when it was on the air. I'd like to see someone get an FM translator for WSJC and do something like the alabama station. It could be called "Mississippi 810. The alabama station also has a small translator in Aniston, AL but the AM signal really packs a punch with 50,000 watts. It's a shame to see WSJC dead. It also had a mean signal back in the day.

They still have a web site and I assume they are raising money even though no signal. My guess is they are doing like WRNO Shortwave in New Orleans. WSJC is probably raising money to repair the station and when they get enough money they will do something. In the meantime they are silent until that time.

This is the story on WSJC: Last December they asked for Special Temporary Authority to reduce power from 50 KW to 1 KW during the Day. The reason is that the Transmitter and Antenna needed some work to get everything to working again. So probably if you get around Magee, Mendenhall, or Mize you might catch WSJC at their reduced power,

The correspondence file at the FCC indicates that transmitter and antenna problems have been plaguing them since 2011 and they had to go silent a few times. So this has been going on for a while.

I drive through Magee once in a while and haven't heard a peep in a long time. If you drive past the station, it's deserted with a keep-out sign on the gate.

It seems WSJC (810)--a christian-talk radio station licensed to Magee--is silent. I haven't heard it in a while.

And when this dung pile of a station was listed for sale with a broker about 6 years ago, I recall they were asking about $1.1 million!!!!

$1.1M. That's hard to imagine.

When it sold in (I think) 1989, it sold for $300k cash. How it would have appreciated 300% defies logic.
