WSJS ditches Laura Ingraham

JR Snider is hosting a "live and local" show from 9 am-noon. It started Monday (6/11).

It's about time someone took the lead with the return of local programming! KUDO's Don Curtis!

However, look for lots of "paid guests" in the time period! Some of them will be valuable and some will not!

Maybe they can afford the "paid guests" in Midday, ratings-wise, if they prop up the rest of the dayparts. The "paid guests" have been very profitable for them in the past, but makes for some very unscintillating radio! Don't think the guests really know just how bad they are!

WHAT?!?! You say this right after curtis cancels the more valuable (to listeners) local afternoon to put on SH. Hmmm? Why U kissin butt?

LOL.....LOLouder......that afternoon show deserved to be canned and Hannity is a big step forward. I have only caught the station once or twice in the last month but to my ear it is much better under the Curtis watch. They still have a long way to go but at least they are making moves. More than I can say for the previous ownership.

It's good that Chenn weighed in on this. I feel a whole lot better. Man were you fired by Curtis and Entercom or just couldn't get a gig there? Cause you are one angry dude.

Actually, Curtis has a great deal of experince with news-talk stations. WPTF, WZTK, WDOX, WGBR. Counting WSJS (and the WSML simulcast) and WMFR, that is seven out of a total of 19 stations offering some form of talk format.

[/quote]curtis doesn't know how to run a talker and will eventually kill WSJS.

If Beth Ann McBride didn't kill SJS, NOTHING will.

I am glad to see that show GONE! There are enough local issues that need to be discussed in the proper forum and I think this move may allow that to happen. I personally would rather hear more sports talk than all that right wing talk with all the hosts using the same talking points. From Rush to Laura to Hannity, they all sound the same.

Some people here aren't making any sense. So late morning local talk is added but afternoon local talk is gone. Right wing Laura Ingraham is gone replaced by more right wing SH. All the same in the end isn't it? If you were tired of right wing talk then why say getting rid of Laura was good when SH is the same. Plus laura had high production values. Don't hear that much anymore.

Also my point about curtis not knowing anything about talk was stated wrong. I got off track and lost my train of thought. What I meant to say was LOCAL talk, that works. You know the kind that SERVES the public. (what radio WAS before it was only a money maker and nothing else) Not just sticking a bunch of national guys on and taking a nap. Radio like Mike Fenley did. That was good. I'm serious.

BTW Does ztk even show up in the books?

don't mistake ad nauseum use of soundbites for production value. don't mistake stupid larry king games for production value.

ztk shows up in the book and beats sjs. buh-leeve dat, playa.

My point is that a station should only carry one of the three shows because they all discuss the same topics and that is directly off the Republican Talking Points. I understand the revenue generated and the business end of it all but it is hard to hold listeners when the shows follow one another and discuss the same issues with the same opinions. Where is the variety????

Hey, right-wing listeners are like anyone else. They like to hear the "hits" and the hits are the issues. You play hit records in all dayparts, so...
