BIG APE

::) Well, it's been a few months now and I have listened faithfully in the morings to the new Brian Freeman and company show. While it is not too bad, seems like there is an awful lot of "fake" laughter going on and I believe we can cut down on the "I'm Brian Freeman" every 3 minutes or so, but overall..I'just my comments are.."It ain't much, but it's all we got. I do listen to the Yard Sale on Saturday, but some of the "cuteness comments" need to go away and finally, They need News on early Sunday mornings also..There is no one anywhere running anything around 6-8 am in N. C. that I can find. Not being real critical, just some observations.. News people sound good, I've known Smith since our 1974 WTOB days! BIG APE!
 
I agree about Sunday morning news, however, if you look at Sunday morning ratings - radio is NOT where people are! And I doubt a few minutes of local news would make much difference - for any radio station. Would be real hard to justify the expense.

You are right about Smith - a quality news person - with an incredible sense of humor.
 
:mad: Well, I have given this another chance, but it doesn't get any better..There is way too much "Horn Tooting" going on..600, 1200 My God, Most people in the Triad have no idea what 1200 is and much less where it is!.. While the storms in the Piedmont area were a "Big Story", This morning, I don't think it was necessary for Freeman to replay last nights actualites featuring himself, of course.."reporting live on the telephone! Give me a break..Old News..What's the story today..Let's look at the book, Don...Gotta do better than this... Time for me to go back to JAX or Orlando! BIG APE!
 
I don't know Big Ape but usually agree with his comments. Not on this one. WSJS did a fantastic job covering the storms and I personally think the station sounds better than it has in ten years or more. Freeman is big market all the way and knows how to self promote...which that station needs to do if they will ever get back in the game. From the winter book it looks like WSML adds more than a share point 12+ which means the eastern side of the triad may be catching on to what is happening there. Cosidering how bad WSJS had fallen in the last years of CBS, I think the on-air sound is miraculous.

As for Friday's "big story," it was the tornados and will be today and for the next few days. Drive 40 through the affected area and you'll know why. I don't know "Don" and can't comment on the Orlando or Jacksonville references, but I give WSJS a solid A for effort.
 
101 did an amazing job thursday night, interrupting programming and just letting randy jackson do his thing. i heard brad and brit say that randy was on until after 1. i remember randy from channel 2 when he was a big reason that they were number 1. it's sad that 101 doesn't do much promotion. i don't know how many people realize he is even doing their weather, but he's still as good as it gets.

??? Your lst post and I don't really know what that has to do with the WSJS Morning show..I would suggest starting another thread if you want to discuss Randy and 101!

Clear Channel, I hear ya but, I guess SJS is the only game in town..I'll have to admit they are not bad for what they do..They are the closest thing to "Local radio" there is at the present time. BIG APE!
