WSJS Sold????

We all know it's for sale. It's just a matter of whether the botched Clear Channel deal will finally go through, or if someone else will get them. It's got to be really tough working there right now.

THAT might not be the best thing for WSJS. Why would Curtis want 2 News/Talk properties in the same market? Doesn't make sense.

Would if by some chance the FM was going classic top 40....

Hey! They might want to hire Carmen! If they do change format, of course.

Classic top 40 or Oldies....then what is all the gossip about what Hitz will do. Don't know you Hattaway but you sound like a very smart guy...rare in radio these days.

Thanks! I suppose you've noticed there are those who might disagree.

Hey, folks if Curtis buys SJS they probably will go Oldies before Hitz does????

Time is tick...tick...ticking away.....

More to come...

I don't think they would take WSJS oldies!!! Are you thinking they might take 101 oldies? Might make sense. They haven't had much luck with the News-Talk thing. Wonder if the owner of Hitz94 has considered Oldies. Would be a lot less competition than Hot AC. They have the signal for it, but do they have the go-nads?

SJS would remain the news station anf ZTK would probably change if all this happens. They could become Oldies or even go Hispanic. A younger Spanish station???

As far as 94 don't really know those guys except of what I hear on the street... Word has it the GM really has no clue and screws up more that the employees can fix. Not sure about the $$$ thing in the fact that it would take tons of marketing to pull the oldie listner into the new station. So we will see what happens there. I feel that something is up in the oldies arena though....

Whoever does it has waited too long. Yes, will now take lots of cash to market. If someone had done it early on, they would have gotten lots of free press. There are still a lot of folks out there who would love to see an Oldies station. Would Hitz94 have the sales staff to sell it, where Entercom did not? Sales will be key to making it a financial success.

If it is Curtis, I would bank on 101.1 going oldies and SJS remaining NT. Makes no sense to try the music format on the AM - since it is firmly established as NT. ZTK has a good product, but has not done well in the ratings. Signal issues in the western part of the metro, IMHO.

I have heard a deal is close as hand - and it is not CC. Word has it Hamilton will remain - which indicates the Curtis idea is not so far fetched. If it were Centennial, H would be a goner!

I'm betting on Curtis will get SJS.... should have heard this week. Well it is a full moon tonight so guess the cat will be out of the bag soon enough.....

Now this sounds reasonable - Curtis gets SJS, and ZTK goes Oldies...but what about Y102? Would it remain intact, and be the Triangle Oldies station, and ZTK be the Triad Oldies station? Makes sense for marketing purposes. They have ZTK and PTF, so hopefully they'll leave Y102 as is if this actually happens.

I read something very recently about WZTK in Winston-Salem. It didn't say anything about WSJS though. I passed this off the first time I saw it and now today I read this thread. I was questioning at that time if Curtis was buying WSJS and WSJS and WZTK would both be at Fifth Street? Or if the information was wrong, which could still be the case. Maybe there is something to this? ;) I would like to see another FM return to Fifth & Summit.

It would be likely they would consolidate at 5th and Summit. Only issue would be main studio rules and it is likely they would have to keep something in the Burlington area. If they take WSML (which I assume they would) they could easily abandon the Graham office and studio, move the public file to the facility in Elon. I would suspect 920 would remain in Elon since they would have to operate that transmitter site, and have a studio and office there.

Plenty of room at 5th and Summit. Would be smart for an FM to move in there with WSJS and be Winston-Salem's FM station. Plus, Oldies did really well in that part of the Triad. I just can't get over 101.1's signal in WS, though. Can they really be a player there? Maybe folks will want Oldies bad enough to put up with the static.
