WSM-AM on Tuesday Night during the Storms

I don’t know how many were listening to WSM-AM on Tuesday night during the storms, but I must say Eddie Stubbs did an excellent job relaying the information to the public during the time the storms were moving through Middle Tennessee. It was as he didn’t break his normal routine format of Classic County Music and artist info, but blended the music content in well with the emergency information that need to go on.

I recall when I was a kid, our house had a basement, and when the storms got bad, my dad huddle us kids and mom to the basement. Dad had an old GE Clock radio in the basement with just AM on it. He kept it tuned to WSM-AM, and as we listen through the static caused by the lightning, the top voices like Ralph Emery, Pat Sajak, Dan Miller, Coyote McCloud, etc. broke in and kept the public informed of the severe weather moving in.

Tuesday Night listening to Eddie Stubbs brought back memories of WSM-AM when I was a kid and the service they provided to us during a scary time. Mr. Stubbs if you’re reading this, Thank You for your presentation Tuesday Night! Wonderful Job! You upheld what WSM stands for, WE SERVE MILLIONS! :D

Amen to that - I was listening to WSM up here in western New York (through the IBOC hash from WFAN...grrr...), and was delighted to hear WSM doing what radio does best.

Also tried to tune in WLAC...and it sounded like they were already in Coast-to-Coast AM around midnight CT. Feh.

I completely agree with you guys, as I posted in the tornado warning thread. I was listening in Chicago and Eddie Stubbs and WSM
did a great job covering the storms. They proved once again the power of well done AM radio.

Not sure how long you listened to WLAC but wall-to-wall storm coverage began during the Vols basketball game. They stayed with it until the initial wave of storms moved through Middle Tennessee.

There may have been a few minutes of Coast to Coast that aired but when the second wave of storms hit, WLAC went wall-to-wall again with continuous coverage until 2:30 when the final warning expired.

Those guys did a great job with storm coverage on Tuesday and certainly shouldn't be overlooked. 'LAC did a ton more coverage than the other 'news' station in town.

Glad to hear it. I was tuning around on my way home from election-night coverage and didn't spend a lot of time on either frequency (it's a short drive!)
