WSM AM

Aside from being an AM signal, what has happened to WSM AM over the years to put this heritage station in the gutter? I am sure they do well in the upper demos (50+) but thers is only so much call for this demo. Actually this demo has lots of money to spend but is often over looked by ad agencies and local retailers. WSM has had a great run but just wonder why such a legendary radio station has done so poorly in the ratings. I know they'd had management changes, some air staff changes, but not sure about the rest. There is more to a radio station that just heritage and the same old tired music!

There is a thread on the Nashville board that I have been following that kind of covers WSM 650’s issues.

It wonders a little into “non-English” stations, which one did very well in the PPMs. The WSM parts of this thread are very interesting. I personally believe that WSM’s “mission” is to support the Opry, which supports the hotel business. As long as Gaylord is happy do not expect any changes.
