Since CC fired all of WSNE (Coast 93.3) djs, a lot of their programming's suffered. What's most shocking is that they're not playing Christmas music. They're taking a "Bah Humbug" attitude towards Christmas this year. What a bunch of Scrooges!
Same thing here on the Treasure Coast in FL. After years of going all Christmas, CC's Oldies 103.7 isn't doing it this year. A listener asked about it on their facebook page, and this is the response she got....
" We tried for years to succeed with Christmas music here on the TC, but listenership declined each time. We do have Clear Channel sister stations in West Palm, Melbourne, and Orlando doing it again. You can listen to them via iHeartradio online or through an app on your smartphone. Sorry we didn't do it this year. We will be sprinkling them in as we get closer "
Their production quality has improved since Tyler came home. Tyler did a few live shifts while Kristen was off and the station sounded very good. Too bad it was short lived and now it's back to VT, PC, and morning show guy off site.
Looks like the backlash against Christmas music has finally gotten the best of CC radio stations. I think Clear Channel should be investigated by the Feds.
The same argument could be made for most major broadcast owner out there, even some of the non comms.
I'll give the example of WTKL (KLove 91.1). How is that serving the needs of the residents of North Dartmouth?
EMF is the 3rd largest radio group in the country. I bet they have less serving local interest per capita than Clear Channel does.
If Clear Channel needs to be investigated by the feds for that, then there are quite a few others that do as well, like EMF.
See my point?
