WSOC's New Sweepers/Jingles

What is your opinion?

To me, they're ok -

Are they supposed to make a difference in the ratings, as Kat Country is now again #1?

Seems like 'SOC needs all the help they can get, besides jocks not talking over the ends of songs, & by defining their identity. Are they 103.7WSOC or FM103WSOC? 103.7 is closer to 104 than 103. WSOC - not appropriate calls.

WSOC was number 2 .... not a bad gain

They should use 103.7 - 104 won't work because WTQR is 104.1 and if you're tuning your digital to 104 it goes to 104.1. Maybe the should use "103-dot-7, W-S-O-C!"

I agree with you that WSOC should use either 103.7 WSOC or (I prefer) WSOC-FM 103. However, I don't understand what your problem is about them using FM 103. They are the only Charlotte station on the dial between 103.1 and 103.9. I could see using 103.7 if, for example, there was a 103.3 WXYZ in the market.

And, I wouldn't touch the heritage call letters, WSOC. I don't think people confuse the radio station with the TV station. I don't hear people walking around saying, "I'm watching WSOC-TV". I hear them saying, "I'm watching Channel 9". But, I do hear people say, "I'm listening to WSOC". And people in Charlotte know that WSOC is country.

I think WSOC can be the number 1 station in Charlotte again. It will take someone in control who cares and can come in a turn the ship around. I'm sad when I turn the dial to 103.7, because I know how awesome the station used to be in the days of Bill Dollar, Paul Schadt, Mike Terry and Paul Franklin.

Some people will always listen to country on WSOC, no matter how bad the station sounds, because thats the station they've always listened to...their dad listens to it and their grandpa listened to it.

Today my Country preset is on 96.9. Maybe 103.7 can replace it one day.

I'll say it again....WSOC's audio is terrible, their mics are dead, and their phone are terrible. Not to mention they don't have music on hold?? How do you run a morning show without that? Jocks become more confident on the air when they sound good to themselves. It's a "head" thing but it works. Engineers.....it is time to "tweak and peak."

As for their positioning. Its a mouthful! "Charlotte's number one country, 12 in a row every hour, 103.7 WSOC." What!!! Keep it simple. Charlotte's number 1 country WSOC 103.7. Forget FM 103.7....FM is sooo 80's. Do the listeners really care if its FM, AM, XM, etc???? IE: NewsTalk 1110, WBT. No mention of AM :)
