Did WSOS-AM 1170 get a low power nighttime authorization that the FCC doesn't know about? Driving up I-95 after sunset yesterday, WSOS-AM was on the air but with a really puny signal. I had to get within about a mile of the Hwy 16 exit (where the tower is about a mile to the East of I-95 just off 16) to get a decent listenable signal. Farther than about 5 miles South on I-95 they could not be heard at all. Poor signal with someone else underneath them up until I got about 1 mile South of the 16 exit.
They do have a big null toward the West, but it should still get out better than it did with 710 watts...
The 103.9 translator was putting out a good signal. From South of St. Augustine up into the South end of Jacksonville. It is located on the WSOS tower off 16. The WFOY translator on 102.1 very soft audio with no processing or very minimal processing. Did not get out all that well because of the soft signal..102.1 plus the 96.5 translator of WAOC 1420 AND 105.5 WBHU PLUS their translator at 106.3 are ALL located on the single WFOY stick. So that's 2 non-directional AMs, 3 translators, a full power FM all on one stick in St. Augustine.
