WSPA - Country kick?

Has anyone else noticed the overwhelming spins of country/country crossover songs WSPA has been playing just recently? I know that crossovers (Taylor Swift, I Hope You Dance, Who Says You Can't Go Home, etc) are good on ACs, but I am hearing either a country song or crossover at least 2-3 times an hour sometimes. Has anyone else noticed this? It's really making them sound disorganized. I'm hearing tons of Shania, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Alison Krauss, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, etc....and back-to-back sometimes. It's getting to be a bit too much. They aren't even in crossover territory anymore....I've heard RF/Life is a Highway, Keith Urban/But For The Grace of God, among others you don't typically hear on an AC. They have played Shania Twain and Taylor Swift back to back....sort of a no-no, IMO. Celine Dion followed by Diamond Rio....sorry, that's just a bit awkward. Their music has been really good until they started this Keith Urban/Shania Twain/Faith Hill obsession.

Since WSSL has such a pop-leaning country sound, are they going after the females there in addition to (of course) WMYI?

Thoughts? Anyone else noticed?

jmo. i think ac will always play the pop sounding country acts so people who don't really like country music can hear them on a station they do like and tell there friends they have heard of rascal flatts, shania and others and claim they like some country. the country format is guilty of allowing that to happen. i guess the question is are other formats stealing country artists? or are record labels using the country format to introduce acts to other formats? although they say she is country, taylor swift is on country, ac and chr. i think wssl is the new country and wmyi will wait on the release for the ac format.

When you get a bunch of crossovers this is what you get. The record labels love it money wise since more ears are hearing it and may buy more copies of the music. The preformers love it because this is supose to increase their fan base and again more ears listening. The problem with crossovers is that not all crossover material sounds good in the fact that it's not quite country nor AC well maybe Pop maybe and alot of the time Rock sort of if there is still a place for that which means the sound gets old quick and for someone listening for AC, Country, Pop, or Rock after a very short while yack!

WMYI plays few (but they are there) country, or crossovers. I guess that would make sense...

I wonder if 98.9 is playing more of these songs right now because there isn't (or they won't add) more new AC material around. Seriously, you can only play Bleeding Love 4-5x a day so long....it might actually be smart. Get a little bit of WSSL's female listener base and of course continue to compete with 102.5. i like how they are trying to get the station involved with the various events they have going on weekly/monthly.
