WSPA's server fails

Today during their early evening news, WSPA's (News Channel 7) server that they use to power all the computers for their master control failed. None of their evening newscasts could air.

At 5, Scene on Seven aired, and Judge Judy aired to fill the rest of the time. This is big because this is during May sweeps, and it could affect who wins the ratings race.

i really don't care. years ago tv used to work with radio as part of broadcast media and now we are referred to as "a local radio station." thank goodness there is cable and satellite tv.

I don't care that their news didn't air either. But what's the deal with the audio clipping that's been going on at Channel 7 for months...maybe a year?? What kind of problem would be that hard to fix?

Media General cheapness? Their Greenville, NC station WNCT sounds the same way.

With my attic antenna and preamp, I get all of the AVL/GSP TV stations, and most Charlotte channels as well. So I can always watch WYFF-4 or WBTV-3. Sounds like WSPA needs a better emergency back up plan. And with an OTA antenna, you get more local/regional channels that cable/sat does not provide.

I don't get 7. My UHF antenna won't pick up any of the 7-13 channels. I can sometimes get it on 62-2. I need to get the antenna outside, rather I need to get the new Channel Master 4228 and put it up outside.

So if you don't get 7 or 13 for CBS and ABC, do you get 3 and 9 from Charlotte instead? Or are you closer to Columbia?

I almost never ever get Charlotte stations. I got WBTV 3 (on 23) one time in a big band opening. I got one of the other Charlotte stations on a recent opening, but not 9. I just don't get Columbia stations, though I am 55 air miles from transmitter sites. If I wheel the UHF yagi toward Augusta, I get WJBF and sometimes the NBC affiliate, but not 12. I get WYFF and Fox Greenville somewhat decently. I need to get the new antenna and put it up outside. I do have a new 1980 vintage stackable conical and it did pick up the UHF allocations fairly well. I may try that on a large pole and see what I get first.
