WSPO going to Fox Sports, new reporter

WSPO has started heavily airing promos that they are going from Sporting News Radio to Fox Sports on May 9. They will be airing Jim Rome, so no more Tim Brando and Y'all Sports Daily on that station.

They will also be airing a lot of their other programming. Sporting News will probably head to 1450/950.

WCIV has hired Nikki Gaskins as a reporter. She was formerly at WMBF in Myrtle Beach and Live 5 News as their morning reporter. Good hire.

From time to time I watch WCIV, News Channel 4's live stream and there newscast seem to be a bit boring. Are they still ranked #3 in the Lowcountry?

I knew Nikki years ago when she was still in Columbia. Hard worker. Great person! Great hire by CIV.

I wish AJ Ross from WMBF would've came to Charleston. We need more eye candy reporters down here. :)

I'm confused about the Sports Radio affiliations in Charleston. You say 1390 WSPO is going from Sporting News to Fox Sports. But isn't 1450 WQNT already Fox Sports?

1450 WQNT Fox Sports
1390 WSPO Sporting News
950 WJKB Sports Byline USA
910 WTMZ ESPN

Maybe one of these stations should consider progressive talk. South Carolina is fairly conservative but four sports stations are too many.

It is hard to understand. It's not even like that. WTMZ is all ESPN. 950, their sister station simulcasts their local talk show, FanTalk, plus a statewide show. They do Fox Sports on weekends simulcasting with 1450 AM. They also have Sporting News during certain time slots. Their midday 1-4pm show, the 2 Live Stews, is Sporting News. They also have SNR at night.

WSPO has Sporting News late-night, midday 10-1 with Tim Brando, Paul Finebaum, and some regional and local shows. Kirkman, the owners of 1450, 950, and 910, prides themselves on having the "Biggest Sports Radio Network in the South". I don't know what they'll do.
