WSPO morning host fired

Friday apparently was the last day for the Tony D morning show on WSPO (1390/99.3) in Charleston. I don't know what happened, if he got fired or something, but the show was doing well, getting more and more callers every week.

Suddenly, now, the show is gone, along with sidekick Knox, and it's been replaced by Sporting News programming.

I wonder what WSPO will replace it with?

Changing the subject-since you are out of Chucktown, what happened to Bill Walsh doing weather on WTMA?
I stream "The Morning Buzz" with Richard Todd online some mornings and now hear Tom Crawford doing the weather forecasts. Did it have something to do with an agreement with the local stations owned by Apex?

Yes, Apex got the contract to do Bill Walsh weather forecasts and all Channel 5 programming, as Channel 5 is now promoted on Apex stations, and Apex's stations are now promoted on Channel 5.

WTMA went back to Channel 4, as they were a few years back.

Thanks for the info-I still remember back in the early 90's when Bill was at WCIV doing weather on the evening newscasts and if memory serves me correctly, Tom Crawford was doing the morning weather on Channel 4.

That being said-though he is not on with Mr. Todd anymore, I will still go and have a "Hot cup of Joe"
in his honor!

Here's an update, from Tony D's wife's Facebook page:

Tony D was not fired, they laid him and Knox off only after 8 months due to no money. Guess they just thought the other show was better??

Never assume that anyone is fired in this day and time of low profits and little money. If you have a job in radio then be glad, it may not be perfect but it is a job and that is more than a lot of radio people can say.
