WSRS flipped, whos next?

So WSRS seems to be the first major station in the area to take the plunge to Christmas/Holiday music. What's your prediction of the next station to flip?

Speaking of WSRS, when are they ever gonna fix that audio processing?

Don't any of you people read any of the other posts here on the Boston radio board?? As has been mentioned several times (once or twice by me alone) in the 2 or 3 or 4 other Christmas-music-flipping related threads on this Boston board, WROR did NOT flip to Christmas music last year. The ONLY time of day they played all Christmas music last year was the 7pm to 8pm hour when Santa (Paul Perry) took call-ins from the little kiddies and that ran the 2 or 3 weeks before Christmas until December 23rd (because, of course, Santa is way too busy on December 24th to host a call in show).

Other than that, they played 4 Christmas songs per hour at :15, :30, :45, and the top of the hour which worked out perfectly fine.

Despite it's huge FM signal (transmitting from atop Mt. Amnesbumskit just northwest of Worcester) that is strong throughout metropolitan Boston, WSRS-96.1 is not considered a "Boston" station.

As for who might go all-Christmas, WMJX-106.7 probably will be the one (given that in most other cities, it's the "soft" or "mainstream" AC that flips), and it's my guess it probably won't be until after Thanksgiving (likely Friday, November 29th but perhaps not until Monday, December 2nd)......unless someone else does so first, in which case, "Magic" will follow within minutes of someone else doing it first.

I do feel that there is a 50-50 chance that WBMX-104.1 will go all-Christmas this year. If they do, they may want to do it ASAP (read: early this coming week, November 18th through 22nd) to beat WMJX "to the punch" and force the lattter's hand.

The only chance I see of Christmas Channel (a/k/a Clear Channel) going all-Christmas in Boston would be if they decide to "blow up" WEDX-101.7 and replace their "Evolution" EDM format and stunt with an all-Christmas format as a stunt, then launch the station's next "long-term" (I use it in quotation marks because CC has already had two formats in the 16 months they've owned that station) format after Christmas.

I don't think they'll change Evolution any time soon. WHBA "The Harbor" was obviously just a temporary holding format.

Now if they did that, would a format change be in the plans? It seems that they are competing with Magic anyway.

Looks Like WMJX/"Magic 106.7" Has Set A Date/Time To Go All-Christmas

It appears that WMJX-106.7 will go all-Christmas about two-and-a-half weeks earlier than it did last year.

According tor reports on both Boston Radio Watch (http://www.bostonradiowatch.com ) and WMJX's own Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152032544161427&l=e953b2c375 ), the flip will occur tomorrow, November 22nd, at 5 P.M. Eastern time.

Last year, WMJX didn't go all-Christmas until December 12th.

I actually think there's a chance that WBMX-104.1 could also go all-Christmas; if they want to, they will probably move to do so prior to WMJX, which might force WMJX's hand.

Mainstream AC and Oldies formatted station do Christmas because it's a natural for them, the Christmas music fits their format and demographics, etc. (Mainstream AC plays some oldies/gold already, so it's a natural fit.)

There's a reason that some stations DON'T do Christmas.

WROR is more rock-based oldies these days...and I can't imagine going from Dire Straits or Steve Miller Band into a Christmas song.

Mix 104.1 has a more Modern AC approach (although they continue to go this way and that way), I don't see them abandoning their format of Lady Gaga, Bare Naked Ladies, Imagine Dragons and Flo Rida into Christmas songs.) They are spending so much time trying to solidify their image musically, that I don't see them wanting to do something that might make people think they are old, sentimental and (most of all) living in the past.

I can't imagine Mix 104.1 going all Christmas....it doesn't make sense.

I would venture a guess that WPLM will do their 12 days of Christmas thing again this year.

12 days is enough if you ask me, flipping stations in September is insanity.

Last year Magica went all-Christmas on the 5th, not 12th..

Mix 104.1 is doing a big all-day "Pink Friday" ticket concert promotion which they've been plugging for days/weeks so it's safe to say they're not messing with any Christmas music today.

Why would Mix 104.1 also go All-Christmas if WODS HD2 is already designated as "Boston's Holiday Music Station"?

Looks like Clear Channel is birdfeeding their Christmas format. Both WSRS and B101 Providence were running the exact same songs, with B101 about 30 seconds ahead.

They've been doing that for awhile, its called Premium Choice. They're doing it more and more, not just with Christmas music but with other music formats as well.
