New owners "The Tide" in Williamsburg have blown out the entire staff and are now simulcasting "The Tide" on this Deltaville/Gloucester signal. Just what they need, a station with no local connections to the market. A real shame for a great staff that was locally connected. Jimmy Steele, Ron Jeffries, Steve Thomas, AC Walker are history now, along with the fine history of the station. Good ole' Jim Campana must be doing flip flops in his grave right now.

So far from listening to "The Tide" and viewing their website, they look and sound like a college station. Not much to offer on a commercial market level yet. And a LONG way to go to sounding professional. Just my opinion. <P ID="signature">______________

Not my cup of tea, but it could be far worse.

Steve, I happen to know Steve Thomas. Met him years ago socially, all around good guy. As for the tide, I had the fortune(?) of hearing some of it when I went down to Williamsburg on Sunday. Safe to say, it was back to BOB quicker than you can say amen corner at the masters. I agree with you that they have a long ways to go in a LOT of ways. If they strive to be more of a college station, then I suggest they listen to the William and Mary station, or even the Hampton station as well for ideas on how to program it. If they want to be more of a true AAA, they need to ask people who used to listen to the coast, what do you miss about it. That and also getting On Top's faultering 102.1 can't hurt either, that way the WHOLE area of Hampton Roads. 92.3 will not cover Norfolk, neither will 107.9. Get the 102.1 signal, that would cover southside and you would have(ableit on three frequencies) coverage for all of Hampton Roads. I don't think it will matter much though, Rock is OWNED there by FM 99 WNOR and The Fox, 106.9. The Max and the X get the rest of what's left because of the fact that WNOR and WAFX have been around for YEARS!

Doesn't 92.3 and 107.9 overlap alot. Why do you need the same thing on 2 signals. I understand the 92.3 and 102.1 but 107.9 is not Hampton Roads at all it is Williamsburg, New Kent, then trees.

92.3 is also Williamsburg and Newport News and even Hampton (then 102.1 would handle the rest.

Surf 92.3 should come back and 107.9 should not be the same as 92.3

They do... I didn't realize how much they did. I think 92.3's signal pushes a bit farther SE than 107.9. Davis might have new plans for 107.9 farther down the road, maybe next year???

Is it at all possible to move that signal closer to Richmond???

107.9 comes in all the way to the Mechanicsville in Richmond, in the city limits 107.9 is gone, but that would be a great idea, so the overlap would not be as much. (only some in Williamaburg)

Right now I see a waste of a signal for Williamsburg, Gloucester, and Newport News (the 1079 and 923 highest populated listening area)

I agree The WTYD sounds like a college station. Very disappointed to hear that the oldies fomat on 92.3 was lost. It was probably the best Oldies station eastern Virginia has ever had. (Been here since 1963).
