WSTP off air

Officially, it has never been back on the air, and yet I've heard it.

It went off the air in 2016.

But I remembered that I hadn't checked all the buttons in one of my cars. When one station was playing a song I didn't like, I was trying other buttons. WSTP wasn't there.

It was at 1490 in Salisbury and played classic country (probably the Real Country satellite format).

According to FCCdata they were licensed Jan.25 2025 for 600 Watts. Radio-locator shows "98.3 WEGO" which according to FCCdata is the DWEGO 1410. I can't easily find a FM translator for this station.

IMHO they need to get there stuff together. They have been "back" 5 months.

With all the AMs turning in their licenses somewhere there bunch of 1kw AM transmitters. It doesn't hurt to have a spare.

They had moved WSTP over to the WSAT site on Jake Alexander Blvd. When the JAB property was sold they had to leave. WSAT and WSTP were supposed to be diplexed on the old WSTP tower. WSAT was on last time I drove through Salisbury but WSTP was not.

Seems like they are online, but whether they have a terrestrial signal is another question. Kinda reminds me of 1390 WJRM, Troy, as I drove through there recently.

I checked the stream but it was poor quality audio of a talk show that was either liberal or pointing out the faults of liberals.

I was in Salisbury yesterday. WSTP 1490 was on the air. Poor signal and audio. It was simulcasting WSAT 1280 which also didn't sound great but had a better signal.

I was in Salisbury today for the funeral for the long time general manager of WSTP, Phil Kehr.

WSTP is on the air. Actually doesn't sound too bad. Was running Glenn Beck.
