From a reliable source at DBC - WSTW has dropped Ricky Thomas from their night lineup. The new
course of action is to simulcast Joe Allen from Eagle 97 downstate on WSTW.

Thoughts?
 
Thoughts, beides WSTW's music being a total mess. What is thier target? and a morning show that, well, makes me yawn. They are perfect. I don't think Ricky was a great choice for nights, but a synicated young guy from Milford, Delaware is not going to help. What they should do is move Nancy to Midday's, Dana back to PM, A game back to nights and then hire a real morning show. But before that, they might want to think of what kind of radio station they want to be, CHR, Adult Hits or a station the GM loves, because we all know that works so well.
 
Firstly, it's Joe ALAN. Ricky was a great jock, don't dog him!! DBC didn't let him go because HE did anything wrong, they just need to save as much money as possible, with the way the economy is going this day and age. The most logical option was to hire Joe to do a syndicated show, killing two jobs in one. If you've spent any time tuning into The Joe Show on Eagle 97.7, you'd know that he's got what it takes to bring WSTW out of the shithole they've dug theirselves into. Joe won the Best Afternoon DJ in Delaware Today's Best of magazine, and had the best books at Eagle since he began there two years ago. So before you go trash talking the DJs in Delaware, know what the hell you're talking about!!!
 
sorry to strike a nerve. You must know Joe pretty well. Don't live in lower slower, so I don't I hope Joe does well. I was stating that WSTW is messed up a lot more then nights. They need help on a lot of levels. I do know the jocks in upper Delaware, and there is some good and not so good talent in the market.
As for Delaware today, totally a public poll, we could all stuff the ballot box. It sells magazines, does not proove anything.

If the Eagle 97.7 website had more than just one page on their website for the first time since...FOREVER...maybe I would know that.
Don't blame me that all of the DBC websites are clumsy and unorganized. BTW, the best of Delaware article you quote? It
says Joe ALLEN.

Next time, just say "Hi, I'm Joe Allen from Eagle 97.7, and I'll do a great job. Thanks!". Make it easier on yourself.
 
Haha, I am NOT Joe. I'm just a defensive friend of both Joe AND Ricky. Joe would never snap on someone like I just did, he's very respectful. & I'm aware the magazine misspelled his name, it was corrected on his plaque. I think you need to hear his show before you decide that "he's not going to help," because he will amaze you. ;)
 
Joe Alan moving to nights might be a good move for them he can't do any worse than Ricky did. Ricky tanked the night show the numbers hit the crapper and he just didn't work out. I think because Ricky wasn't from DE he really couldn't connect with the DE listener also the night show has had many jocks in that slot Justin Wright, Scott Arnold and Ricky Thonas and now Joe Alan. Remember this... people don't like change!

I'm not knocking anyone of these jocks I'm sure they are very talented but maybe STW should add Romeos Playhouse or just track it to save $$$
 
Yeah that does kind of make sense about the "knowing DE people." Joe has lived here since he was a little kid, so he knows them pretty well. Atleast we are all agreeing on one thing, WSTW can only go up, ya know? :) But please don't talk shit on Ricky, it wasn't his fault. The night show is one of the hardest shift to get ratings on. Have some heart and sympathy, Ricky can find and read this board just as easy as I did.

They should put the HD-2 format (Graffiti Radio) on the main signal and move the crap on their now to HD-2....
