WSVM (Valdese) Has Been Sold

One of my former employers owned WSVM at one point. It was at a time when he invested in up to date jingles. I used to love hearing the "W-SSSSSS-VVVVVV-M"

It sounded like Southern gospel when I passed through.

For quite some time, they've had a gospel "block" from Noon-1pm with obituaries, the late pastor nationally-renown Dr. Adrian Rogers, and the syndicated "The Old Gospel Ship" which plays southern gospel quartets from the 1970s and back. Otherwise, they run ABC's Timeless Favorites. New owners have yet to take over and thus the format has yet to flip. I'm still awaiting that article the News Herald is supposed to run--so I was told by a NH insider. I wonder if they are "sitting" on the story until a format flip to keep the current listeners from stampeding the call-in Trading Post heard 8a-10a weekdays?

John...Glad you brought the story to their attention. I'm sure that must have gotten it printed. Thanks for the info!

It's way too much of a coincidence for my input to have not had a bearing on it. The business editor was in that meeting, so he may have done it on his own, without publisher input.

WSVM filed for non-consummation of the sale this morning. I guess it must have tanked...

I had kept waiting for the format flip -- not that I was looking forward to it. But this MAY (emphasize "MAY") explain what I heard during their Trading Post less than two weeks ago. The lady who hosts this program seemed very upbeat and jubilant about something on the morning I listened, but I had not tuned in early enough to hear the reason for the alleged celebration. I did not have and still have no idea why she was SO happy and cheerful, but at the time it crossed my mind that something may have happened with the sale and/or format flip.
