WSVN Rumor... is WHDH next?

As posted on the national TV board, there is a rumored sale of WSVN from Sunbeam to FOX for $700mil.

Could WSVN's sister WHDH be next? Could the sale of the NBC affiliates mentioned two months ago be a precursor to NBC buying WHDH?

Does this post sound like one of Joseph Gallants?

Ha!

I just posted to the thread on the National board.
I was wondering EXACTLY the same thing!
Given that Ansen said he wasn't interested in selling WHDH, I bet this SpyTV thing has a credibility problem!

If not, there could be some mucho changes in Beantown, eh?

I'm shocked you beat him to it. But that still wont stop him from posting this subject somehow someway on several other boards here on this website:

"How does the proposed sale of WHDH affect Oldies 103.3's advertising rates"?

"Will the Red Sox buy WBOS-FM now that WHDH-TV may have been sold?"

"Will Ed Ansin provide live Jack streaming on the WHDH website?"

"How many WSVN employees will end up at WHDH and will Nik Carter or Paul Marshall be involved in any way whatsoever?"

Just watch, he'll do it. ;o)

I'll come back tomorrow and eat my words if it's true,
but this is highly unlikely mainly because...

Fox is capped out at 37.92% of the national reach.
Miami with 1.4 would put them over the 39 percent cap.
Unless they're selling small market stations or swapping
with someone else, they really have no room maneuver here.

His all-time favorite : Red Sox buy WHDH, convert it into MyTV affiliate,
plus broadcast all their games in Spanish which will be also simulcast
on WBOS-FM. WBOS-FM will also become all-sports talk in Spanish all day.

WSVN to Fox untrue

As I posted on the National board as well, FTVLive is reporting this alleged sale of WSVN to Fox is totally untrue. The rumor was started on TVSpy, then Newsblues picked up on it. FTVLive reports they placed calls to both WSVN and Fox. Both parties said the rumor is not true.

Any news of a deal of that size and magnitude would most definitely
be on the Variety or Broadcasting&Cable or Wall Stree Journal site, first, before it were to spread to some bullsh*t messageboard like TVspy
or Joseph Gallant's keyboard...

OK Knock it off...

All right, I just made a like jab at Mr. Gallant in jest, I did not intend this to turn into a bashing thread towards him. Can we all grow up now and knock it off?

If not, I'll just have the mods close this thread.

That doesnt say much about Newsblues. They've always been the
follow the gossip style of press. They want you to pay to read
their comments, however it's usually bullish anyways.
As far as the headlines are concerned, if you wait a day after
the headline is printed, you can google the headline to read
the story for free.

I wasn't a big fan after they went to the pay service in 1999.
