Was on Dayton's Oldies.com and the announcement was made that it's translator will be moving sometime this summer frmo 101.5 to 101.1. Good news for listeners who cannot pull in 97.7 north of Troy.

Interesting note..no mention is made of WKSW moving to the 101.5 frequency..only: "FCC is relocating slots on the Dayton area FM dial."

Not sure if the reception north of Troy will change at all. The move of the translator to 101.1 will help reception south of Dayton. Coverage in that direction is now limited by WCWT-FM in Centerville (note that they recently got a CP to move to 107.3).

The actual quote from the Newsletter is: "The Federal Communications Commission is reallocating slots on the Dayton-area FM dial." There are several other stories in the Newsletter worth reading. Check it out at www.daytonoldies.com .

101.1 the WIZ from Cincinnati will interfere in far south Dayton.

Looking at the engineering calculations - there is a larger buffer zone between the primary coverage and interference contours on 101.1; compared to that shown on 101.5. In other words, one can go further to the south listening to W266BG (the translator that will be carrying Ultimate Oldies Radio) before WIZF-FM takes over. Propagation prediction models are fairly accurate; but one will not know the actual coverage until W266BG is on the air later this summer.
