WSYB? What happened to local?

I had the opportunity to be in the Rutland area today...tuned in to WSYB...bottom of the hour news not local? Of the 4 stories the news guy read, FOUR of them were stories from the northern part of the state. Last I checked, WSYB can only be heard in the greater Rutland area. Is their news guy from Burlington? PLUS...the same news report ran the 3 times I heard it while in town. Didn't know the average Rutland listener cared about what is going on in Richmond...can you even get WSYB in Richmond?

Sounds like WSYB is losing its local "feel"...seemed like it was more local under Clear Channel. Whats next? News from Albany? Nothing happens in Rutland? Oh...think I heard the same 3 PSAs twice each of the three hours I was in Rutland.

What has happened to the once great WSYB? :'(

Judy Anderson who used to do the afternoon news on WSYB, and give updates after the top hour national news did a great job keeping the stories relevant to the WSYB coverage area, not sure why Pamal's professor of programming decided to take those chores for himself, one would think he has more than enough to do oversiing the 1 station, plus the other four .. You mean you don't you care what's happening in Richmond, or even Richford ? ??? I do like the Dennis Miller show though, that was a good choice to replace Dr. Laura on "The Great 138"... It's become appointment listening for me.

They still pretty much are, on WSYB weekday mornings between 6 and 9.

What happened to Jack Healy and Brian C. ?

They were the best in VT. at one time.

In my opinion, Jack still is the best, especially when it comes to hockey play-by-play. (No offense to George Commo who is a legend himself.)

WSYB is still a great staion... Some changes were made under new ownership and it has been hard for some people to deal with that... JO JO Kracko keeps making all of these coments about the management there now... Jo Jo, if you were good in radio, you wouldn't be at another station once again.... What is this 4 now?

Richard...who are you defending? The real change at WSYB is the NEW lack of attention to detail...there is more dead air than EVER...the same 6 PSAs run all day long...the news updates are anything but LOCAL...maybe you were unfamiliar with the station before the purchase? No t
doubt the Professor has the lack of will, or ability to take care of the little things...putting a part timer in place to input his newscast? There was a day, not too long ago, that WSYB sounded "big"...now it just sounds like the local station it is...shame...

Richard, I think you're looking through this little world through a pair of very rose colored glasses and perhaps not seeing the big picture for what the big picture is. I know you're defending your very close friend, and that is very noble of you on your part.

And while you are attempting to take a cheap pot-shot at me, and you are certainly welcome to do to so. I stand tall and proud of my contributions and success working and serving our great community, though I never had the pleasure of dealing with you directly through my span of time there.

Maybe your expectation bar is set rather low for what local radio should be ?

Jojo, may I speak for you for a moment?

The atmosphere at the Q, wrapping up the 80s was one of a severe change of pace. One of the sales staff was upended due to health concerns, the station itself was about to undergo a format change, Ken Barlow went on to greener pastures (the PD who really made the station what it was in the 80s) and the company was acquiring/launching new stations at a fairly good clip.

For Jojo, accustomed to selling CHR (and maybe not the amalgam of stations it was becoming), the transition to Z97 was a sound one. As the Q waned toward rock, Z97 was waning from A/C to a more CHR sounding station. Plus, they began to make inroads to boost their signal so they could infiltrate the Claremont market, the Q's hometown. Not to mention sometimes it's just time for a change.

As for any additional changes, Kracko will have to answer for himself, but I suspect it's about the amount of respect he received, or perhaps the pay or assigned territory was more lucrative.

Just my opinion.
