WTAB 1370 in NC

Any idea if this station is running day power at night? Maybe Sandy-related, but they are near Myrtle Beach, hardly in Sandy's path. I have heard what had to be them the last two nights, with C&W music....and possibly commercial-free.

I think I saw that they only run about 105 watts nights. I am in south FL; seems strong for 105 w.

cd

WIOD Miami booming in last night here in NC with football. Wiping out semi-local WGAI on 560. Might be conditions. Not hearing much from the west, only north south. Also WFLF strong on 540 with no fading.

I had them clearly a couple nights ago during Sandy here in VA. Haven't heard them since though, but I suspected the same thing.

Last night, AM was completely dead. Any auroral activity going on?

WTAB is definitely running daytime power. For the past few nights, they have been totally wiping out WSPD (From Toledo) which usually "owns" 1370 at night here in Central KY. WTAB frequently fails to power down from what I have observed. In fact, last year at this time, I heard WTAB clearly, 500 miles east of Bermuda in the Atlantic Ocean around 10 PM EST while on a trans-Atlantic cruise.

^Thank you! Oh BTW when I was in Bermuda in 2005, the only 1370 I got was the one serving Baltimore, Oldies 1370 it was known as then.

cd

From NE NC last night. Conditions were poor. Did briefly hear WTAB over the jumble with high school scores. Top signal was WQLL Q1370 with Baltimore's Greatest Hits. Also unid that was probably WSPD Toledo.
BTW, I'm maybe 200 miles north of WTAB.

Nothing on 1370 last night. Am was still a noisy mess.

I did manage to get WHBK on 1460 and WTRU 830, both from NC here in VA. That was only long enough to ID, though.

I also did not hear WTAB last night. Maybe they found the switch to cut power at sunset... In the last year, however, I have heard them well into the evening (11 PM and after) often sounding like a local station here in Central KY with their country music. They ID frequently, so they are not hard to miss when on high power...

I guess that is one good thing! ;D

WTAB was "at it again" blasting into Central KY last night around 11 to 1 AM. Have not checked tonight.
