WTAM airing podcasts this morning

I know today is technically a holiday, but geez, couldn't they find anyone to host the morning show? It's a bit embarrassing for a 50 kW powerhouse.

What's WTAM's back-up bench for mornings at this point? Brad Sussman?

Inevitably both Bill Wills and Mike Snyder have to be thinking about retirement; they've seen a number of their colleagues die too soon (Chuck Collier, Casey Coleman, Triv) and they've been in the business for decades each.

Jimmy Malone is at WTAM also. He could have filled in more today.
The Maloner’s 9am hour feels more like a victory lap/"one last thing before I finally retire" deal similar to Lanigan being on The Spew. He really doesn’t fit with the rest of the station.

I look at this no differently than filler programming airing on a Sunday morning. Monday was the legal holiday and hardly anyone had to wake up and go to work. I can't imagine the audience was very large. Malone likely had no desire to wake up and play fill in guy to an audience of dozens on a holiday.

Yet on Sunday, New Year's Day, they had a bunch of folks on air for the Countdown to Kickoff show. BTW, I had to wake up and go to work on Monday. As for the Maloner, he is doing his victory lap. I'm guessing he will be gone by the end of the year.

Might have something to do with minority requirements.
If so, Pastor Darrell Scott might have been a better choice, although I don't know if he would have been able to do it M-F. I assume Malone is still under contract and they need to keep him around in some capacity until his contact expires.

Mansfield Frazier had a show called The Forum on Sunday afternoons. It was very reminiscent of old style political radio, with callers duking it out with the host (instead of ass kissing).

Darrell Scott has enough to worry about with his grift church and radio station that's never on the air (AM 1000)

Malone could retire at any time and easily could have done so with the WMJI revamp. This is more iHeart giving him a gig so Audacy doesn’t pick him up if he decides to retire, then un-retire. (Again, see when Lanigan was on The Spew)
