And tinn foial? Tinn foial hats? ???

Maybe he was inventing a new word. He combined "foil" and "fail" to get foial!

The fact that the used the "Fa****" word on WKNR...maybe they were trying to make some artificial controversy so people would tune in, i.e.: get people riled up, have someone like GLAAD or HRC start firing off letters. If that was their intent, it probably just depresses them that there was no reaction at all because that just indicates how few people actually listen to them [I don't listen to them at all, Rizzo can take his "WEEEEEEEEE" and shove it in the urinal where it belongs]. I heard that someone contacted the Gay People's Chronicle about it and they basically said "who?" and declined to do a story. Aside from the few haters of anything WKNR on the Cleveland.com board the rest of the world doesn't really care about a station that probably bills in single digit numbers.

Thank you. My thoughts exactly. Even though you are probably very generous on the single-digit numbers.

Rizzo now blatantly suffers from Rover's Disease: surround yourself with total idiots (and in this case, yes, I consider Hammer an idiot) which will elevate you above the rest of the cast. Rover's Disease appears to be contagious: once you get it, there is no cure but bad radio.

Currently, the inane arguments between Rizzo and Hammer (whenever I bother to tune in) make me pine for the days of Kiley and Booms. I'd rather have Greg Brinda back in that slot. THAT'S the real shame.

This thread is a great example of why radio is in trouble. Old guys who think people are still offended by these silly words.

The listening public could give two poops over use of either of the words. The MWL show used the F*G word all the time. It didn't offend anyone. Nobody would use the F*G word to create controversy on the radio. Do you know why? Because it's 2009 and F*G isn’t controversial anymore. When 95% of the gay population uses the word to describe their own lifestyle, the stigma is gone. How many times have you been in a sports bar and heard that word used to describe one of the guys in a group? Try every time you are in a sports bar!

Catch up with society guys, the rest of us will be waiting for you over in 2010.

Sure Baylor, everyone shares your warped sense of reality. ::)

African-Americans use the N-word to describe themselves. Try using that on the air know-it-all.

I'm sure if an African-American DJ used it nobody would care.

All this furor over someone saying a naughty word on the radio or Janet Jackson or whatever just shows that America still has some remnants of our Puritan heritage somewhere. In Europe, nobody would think twice about it.

Possibly, but those in Europe have no concept of insulation for their homes, banking curves in the road to keep accidents from happening, deodorant, dentistry, not to smoke while checking an apartment building's propane system for leaks,....

So it's a bit of a trade off, I guess.

The comment that it depends on who says it, and the target audience listening, is correct. Howard Stern used to very occasionally use the N-word. I believe that it was a combination of his audience along with his side-kick Robin being a useful African-American enabler that allowed him to get away with it. As for the WKNR "F-A..." word, maybe the potentially offended party smelled a stunt and didn't want to dignify it with a response.

former Kansas City Chiefs Running Back Larry Johnson would disagree, since he used it in a Twitter message and lost his gig, and remains without a job in the NFL

Speaker of the Truth, eh? Johnson signed with the Bengals on November 17th. Duh.
