WTAM heard in NYC - 03/07/10

I'm pretty sure it's heard in NY every night; and fairly often there is "some angry guy" at a news/talk station who may be arguing with callers. I heard heated arguments on a talk show before.

WTAM has a couple of local hosts (shift change at 7 ET) so it could be either one of them. Mike Trevisano (their PM drive host) sounds like a pretty angry guy much of the time.

And yes, WTAM should be one of the easier stations to catch in New York as soon as the sun goes down. It has a solid 50 kw signal, no nulls to the east, and the nearest IBOC jammer would be 1080 WTIC - which is far enough (both in distance and frequency) to be nulled out easily.

WTAM is actually one of the regular out-of-town nighttime catches for me here in Manhattan. There aren't many at my place, with all the signals in NYC in addition to tons of interference in my 'hood. When driving around the burbs here in the early evening, I've frequently heard WTAM coming in very strong.

The few AM signals from outside NYC I can pick up regularly are WBAL from Baltimore, WFED from DC (the former WTOP), CJBC Toronto, CHAM from Hamilton, ON, and sometimes CJAD Montreal and WBT Charlotte. It's slim pickings around here, a sad state of affairs for this DX aficionado. So I love to travel!

There's a LOT of jumbles on the dial on the East Coast.
