Listening to WTAM on Sunday morning, the traffic reporter mentioned a problem on I-271 in Medina County, but he pronounced it Me DEE na. Do they have out-of-towners doing these reports?

Lots of traffic reports are done out of centralized operations centers where the same person may do 6 to 10 different stations each hour. Generally they have pronunciation guides for place names that pop up in the copy.
I was told Audacy’s Cleveland cluster commercial production is created in (I believe) Kansas City. They’ve been moving various station services to regional hubs in order to reduce local station staff sizes and lower overhead/costs.

I believe WTVN's traffic reports outside peak hours here in Columbus come from Cleveland. Pat Butler and Olivia Muzica's Cleveland accents are slight but noticeable. I've also heard them on WTAM when I've been up in that area.
Not sure why they even do traffic reports outside of peak hours.
Heck, I just got back from Florida. They need traffic reports 24/7 down there. I-4 was basicaaly a stop and go situation no matter what time of the day or night. I thik we were only able to go the speed limit for a short time before everything slowed to a crawl or entirely stopped. Morning and evening rush hours were a total nightmare. They need to widen that road to 16 lanes for each side.
