WTAMs Lost Weekend..

Listening to the Indians games on the ''Big One'' this weekend has been an experience..

Friday night..Hamilton is left to describe fireworks as part of the postgame...''there's a red one, and a green one'' while Mully tries to find Eric Wedge..one of the few times this week they've actually aired the manager...after about five minutes of general nonsense from Hamilton, they finally..finally got it right..

Saturday Afternoon..in the 9th inning rain delay, they flip it back to the studio for phones..at the end of one call, somebody with the Indians is described as a ''worthless co--sucker''...live..no delay..

As always, I'm left wondering..why?

How hard is it to get organized? How hard is it to turn on the delay button?

A WTAM gaffe parlayed to the Indians Radio Network...

Schwabbie even asked the producer, "Motz, are we even on delay?"

Yeah, I heard it. On Indians affil WEOL/930. That segment was fed to the entire Indians Radio Network, per each station's discretion. WTAM's spotloads are also simulcast on the network for whatever reason. But why WEOL didn't just yank Schwabbie off the air and put on FSR is beyond me...

Don't forget... Jerry Springer's on WTAM from 9a-11:30a. ;) Oh, this just adds to all the reasons for me NOT to listen to ol' 1100 anymore...

WTAM and WKNR both use a same system that takes two minutes to activate - you can tell by the popping of the audio while this takes place. I have no clue if the Indians Radio Network also uses this delay via WTAM, but I doubt it...

Re: Your lost weekend

Speaker of Truth, you must have not been paying attention very well. WTAM dumped it. Some of the affiliates did not. You must have been listening to a different station. Go back to enjoying an adult beverage.
Edited by WXYZRADIO on 07/17/05 07:06 PM.

Then WEOL couldn't. They didn't have the delay from WTAM then, as I suspected all along. It's hard to monitor two stations at the same time...

Oh, and I don't drink... the closest would be a root brewski. ;)

Actually I was listening in cue during the rain delay...IF WTAM dumped it, it was not edited for whatever affliates made the mistake of carrying it..WTAM already runs Indians and Browns games with a five second delay after the infamous coin flip during week 1 of the NFL season last year..

It remains that WTAM runs one of the sloppiest baseball networks I've ever heard..its only getting worse with each passing summer..

Going back into delay

It certainly used to make the Wallflowers sound interesting when WTAM would come out of a sports game and into Gilly's show.

At least the Browns and Cavaliers networks have some delay fed into the network with their live postgame call-ins. (I know the Cavs network DEFINETLY does this.) WTAM was, in essence, feeding their audio to the whole network if any affils wanted to take it. That includes endless spot loads directly from WTAM. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy...

Only WTAM had the delay - the network DIDN'T have it. That left all the other stations vunerable to any abject profanity (unless if the board-op had an itchy trigger-finger)...

Oh, well. WEOL is no longer airing the audio feed of WTAM during rain delays - it's over to the just-picked-up Fox Sports Radio.

Having the bought-and-paid-for team shill Kevin Keane as a host doesn't help ;)

WTAM's handling of the Indians network is pathetic. The production and imaging is downright awful - oh, I miss Jay Bohannon. And enough with the Tom Hamilton "Gone!" soundbites, already!
