WTBQ Adds Tesh

John Tesh is free, and it doesn't kill you with barter. In no way is this better than Rich Ball. Tesh is decent for nighttime hours, but his regurgitation of Reader's Digest with the audience gets old very quickly.

John Tesh, for all his accolades has been known to show up to your station's formal functions in jeans and T-shirts, late and not have much interaction with the airstaff. He demonstrates quite quickly they are beneath his star power. Decent on air? Yes. Pompous? You bet.

Decent? Pompous? And absolutely free to carry?

Hell, I'll put him on my Internet station on overnights! ;)

Roughly one month after moving from 99.1 to 93.5, WTBQ is turning over a bulk of its afternoon drive over to John Tesh:

Tesh. In afternoon drive. Now THAT'S compelling radio. Surely no live, local jock could skim the Internet, papers, fanzines and websites to spew Johnny's Helpful Lifestyle Tips as well. [/sarcasm] And we wonder why... Flush twice, it's a long way to the processing plant.

And stations with Tesh in afternoon drive and Delilah in evenings = cost-savings for radio owners, but for listeners, gun-to-the-head radio! (With all due respect, of course... their shows are an acquired taste.)

To be fair, WTBQ has more live and local programming than most stations in America these days...
