WTBS 87.7 what are they doing right/wrong?

That other thread was getting long and already on page 2. You know me, the mother of new threads:

I rarely listen to 2 songs in a row on Old School 87.7. I know their target audience is not old white men, but they'll play a jamin' rhythmic song and follow that with a slow "Quiet Storm" track, then back to rhythmic again.

I think this makes for a sloppy presentation. I'd like to get my hands on those 2 "Quiet Storm" playlists and flush them down the toilet! Interesting how their station promos feature snips of rhythmic tracks instead of Babyface slow jams.
 
They actually have a ton of fans and new listeners according to social media that are amazed at how great of a station OLD SCHOOL 87.7 is. Seems as if they have filled a format hole that has been voided by KISS and MAJIC. I haven't listened to them for a long period of time, but I do know the playlist consist of a ton of variety R&B hits. I too like more upbeat songs during most of the day and save the slow jamz for night time. They are just in the beginning stages so there is no dayparting from what I've heard. Porsche Fox has been added to afternoons so maybe more jocks are coming soon. It'll be a great Urban AC war if talents like Carol Blackman and Renee Miller were added to the lineup. They have a great mixshow on Saturday evening with Jammin' Jay also a Friday happy hour on Edegewood with Jerry Smokin' B formerly of HOT 97.5. I rode to the Tanger outlets in Commerce,GA and the signal was still stellar!
 
Porsche Fox was a good add for them. She talks a lot though......about just about anything, from meeting folks in an elevator to the check out line at Publix. She'd be better off just playing DJ, with less talk and more music I.M.O.
