I used to hear the term on WEND in Charlotte. The usual format was just plain "alternative" but it was interesting to hear 80s songs during the lunch hour.
WKZQ in Myrtle Beach does mix new and old.
I'm thinking something simular to 99X in Atlanta.
I don’t think Cumulus is going to blow up WOMG again and give all of the gold audience to Steve FM and Fox. It should be able to be fixed. Just 6 months ago it was beating WTCB. A format like classic alternative would take more effort than they’re probably willing to put in. The last time they flipped it (Nash Icon, anyone?) was a disaster. They just need to adjust the music a bit and add some more uptempo titles IMO. Bob and Sheri are also a drag and don’t seem to do well on any station they’re put on outside of Charlotte. It’s notable that its sister station in Charleston, 96.9 The Wolf which is classic hits is struggling too. Morning show there has to be a huge drag too.
Agree that Alt needs to go to 93.5. Obviously something could go on the 99.7 signal and do decently too. Unless 93.5 is billing well as a CHR, I can’t for the life of me figure out why Alpha keeps it alive.

Speaking of 93.5 not to Hijack the thread, but noticed that WOIC no longer is on the air. Kinda curious what station is feeding The Palm? I feel out of the loop sometimes

Well q93.5 err Live 93.5 has made it 10 years so either it's making some $$$$ or it's being used to hold down WNOK. Not that NOK is setting the world on fire either.

Nikki Haley was on WVOC quite a bit as were some other notable statehouse folks during primary season but now that it’s over, we’ll see how the next round goes.
Ah 93.5 at the bottom is fitting, especially given the format recently celebrated 10 years yet no one is listening. LOL. The alternative 99.7 that it replaced is doing better, and that launched because Alpha Media realized/regretted their big mistake too late.

Alpha has some serious problems. 93.5 is tied with 94.9 and 99.7 which are translators. LOL. The Fox is doing pretty badly as well.
The subject of this thread, the B, is down again, just a smidge. Still in 10th place, but WOMG is catching back up to it.
#5 finish for WVOC. They've bounced back from where they were early this year pretty nicely.

Wow a .7 for WARQ! At the rate they are going Alpha may pull the plug and throw 93.5 on the bird. Hot, and The Big DM will always do good, but I can't see them continue to carry the whole cluster without some sort of chaange.
