You hit the nail squarely on the head here as to why there are so many religious stations around here. This ares does have a lot of deeply religious people, but many of them think their way is the only way, and that if you are not part of their flock then you need to be converted for your own good.
I also think that for the traveling public, spoken word religious programming is largely wasted. If I am traveling and get interested in a sermon/lesson etc, I often find that I will miss the end and maybe even the most important part of the message because I have arrived at my destination and don't have time to stay in the car to listen to the rest of the program.
