WTDA - no news?

Rather than airing network or local news at the TOH, the New 103.9 WTDA Talk FM (ask for it by name!) is running a Fox Sports Radio cast from :00-:02, then spots. I can understand the 20/20 updates during FSR programming, but don't people want news on a talk station? How much does sports news change during the daytime? Is the local polo club score posted yet?

During Bob and Tom this morning they did have local news. Didn't catch the guys name or what other station he was with.

I think they put most of the programming together over the weekend so it may take them a few days to pick a network and gain clearance, also I’m sure there will be other talks shows not just sports programming, maybe Ed Shultz after Glenn Beck for example. But give them a few days to get it done. They had an opportunity that they jumped on; I applaud them for making the switch.

Consdiering at 6am they segued from TED FM (last song was Rihanna by Fleetwood Mac) into Bob and Tom without a mention of "Talk FM" I suspect they did all this at the very last moment and didn't do much planning. I am sure in time they wil add more things such as local news durning the afternoons etc, I know WMNI, Talk FM's sister station used to have news in the afternoons and still runs national news at the hour.

Yes, while the others slept, they leapt.  Another thing they did right was, um, uh...well...give me a few months, I'll think of something.  Better yet, give me a few years.  Then I'll just congratulate them for whatever format they flip to next (that virtually no one can hear).

I came back to edit this because I realize its silly of me to think they're going to flip again in two years. I'd say one year is more like it.

???

Does that sound anything like their song "Rhiannon?"

Or does it sound like the artist Rihanna??

yeh a typo i know. They don't allow you to edit here after so many minutes.

Oh. I just assumed you were more than 2 miles from the 103.9 transmitter, in which case it's kind of hard to make out the words through the static.

Cool that you noted the last song that TED FM played was Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac. Would you (or anyone) happen to know the last song that STAR 107.9 played just before 6am on the morning of Tuesday, July 24, 2001, prior to them going to a syndicated oldies show? Yes, I was listening but was so shocked at STAR's format change, I failed to note their finale song.
