I really enjoyed the B101 bumper with the artist and song title. Miss that on B101.I got these recordings of the 2 promos
I think a B96 or country is extremely likely based on Taylor's song's formats.
It’s still channel Q on 96.5 HD2Anyone check their HD2 station for hints and see if they’re playing something different there?
Translation, please?A new era meaning
Monday mondays at 9 12noon and 5pm
I’m Thinking it’s a money contest beginning MondayTranslation, please?
Oh, you meant Money Mondays, not Monday Mondays. All I could think of was that WTDY was going to start playing a six decade-old Mamas & Papas hit three times a day! Thanks for the clarification.I’m Thinking it’s a money contest beginning Monday
WEMG aims at, at least, 35 and over. With salsa and merengue in the mix, it is even more 45 and over. WHAT is similar to WUMR, and is at a signal disadvantage; both are sort of 19-49 targeted. With the differences, are WUMR, WHAT, and WEMG targeting different audiences?
The more I think it, a tweak similar to what B96 did a few weeks ago (remaining CHR but adding considerable gold titles) sounds increasingly plausible. Gives them a more defined lane instead of directly taking on Q102 and it better flanks B101 in the process.I agree with Abe.
This stunt is geared to the brand's current (and intended) audience. This isn't a flush the cume type stunt.
Tweaks forthcoming? Maybe.
A 180 format change to Country or something very different from recent programming? Highly unlikely.
The reason I prefer TDY over Q is their gold library. I am hardly an expert (I listen to terrestrial radio for about 7 minutes at a time, maybe 10 times a week), but I have been surprised by how much gold they play, and also how deep their gold library is. I feel like someone put actual thought into it. (That alone makes a station stand out!)The more I think it, a tweak similar to what B96 did a few weeks ago (remaining CHR but adding considerable gold titles) sounds increasingly plausible. In that sense, this stunt fits the audience perfectly.
I agree. Probably also a new on-air lineup to follow, perhaps a new brand identity as well. A gold-based station being called "TDY, Today's Hits" would be a bit of a head scratcher. The more I think it, a tweak similar to what B96 did a few weeks ago (remaining CHR but adding considerable gold titles) sounds increasingly plausible. The difference is demos. There's one reason why EVERY Hot AC in Philadelphia in the past two decades has failed and it is called WBEB.But how do you do this and not go straight Hot AC?
Ahhh, I remember when Today’s 96.5 started and MoreFm changed to Today’s 101.1 MoreFM.The difference is demos. There's one reason why EVERY Hot AC in Philadelphia in the past two decades has failed and it is called WBEB.
The moment Audacy purchased WBEB is the minute they shifted then "Today's 96.5" back to CHR.

The entire purpose of a radio format is to reach its demographic of choice to make money. Nothing more, nothing less.Yes, they did. I remember this.
It seems to me that Mainstream AC has gotten hotter, and Hot AC has gotten more CHR-like.
So demos is more on the advertising dollars and not so much about the music?
CHR and Hot A/C sound very alike. New 102.7 and Z100 in NYC sound very similar.Yes, they did. I remember this.

Another behind-the-paywall tantalizer! Decisions, decisions. Is it worth forking over the subscription price if you're not sure that you'll even want to read another story again? After all, this story is of interest mainly to Philadelphia listeners and the occasional radio geek. There ought to be a one-article-only fee of a quarter or so, but that only makes sense for the consumer, not for the publisher. I pay for access to the online version of my old hometown paper, but I read at least one article from it every day. There’s a domain name registered for a new branding of 96.5 per radioinsight
