Been tried and they haven't met the success of other towns... Maybe the birthplace of Jazz likes it old school instead?
On the spanish, It's Been discussed, probably won't happen for a few more years due to not a real big identifiable nationality for Hispanics in New Orleans right now(as they come from the carribean as well as latin America) on which to aim your station (unless you try like KLOL 101 in Houston with hurban) but then NOLA is still under the radar in the number of hispanics in the area IMO...
The black gospel on 104.1 is a wise decision if they can outdo Praise (94.9/94.7 currently) or if Praise goes off air due to CC rocking the ratings.
From what I can tell , John McQueen of Diva fame has his hands on the new 106.1 format (which is supposed to be talk)....a talk format for women perhaps? Something that I havent seen get really off the ground in other areas (women talk), but he is surprising me with the Diva format (even though I still say, he'd get better numbers by just killing the name IMO)
Yeah NOLA is built up as a romance and sin town (maybe why Urban A/C WYLD-FM is kicking it at number 2 for) but it has more of a devil may care, lets party, have fun attitude among the locals.....and after all, that is what radio is after, the locals... So you'll see fun stations and in the case of 104.1, trying to save your soul at the same time.....
