WTF happened to MIX/KISS 104.1?

While I was visiting New Orleans, My favorite station I listen to the most is Mix 104.1. Nix 104.1 was the best station worth listening to. Its format was patterned after 104 KRBE in Houston-Another great Top 40 station. I heard it gone completely different. I Believe CC has turned another station into Crappy Regional Mex. When did that flip happened? I believe half the people who lives in Texas now speaks Spanish, As it becomes the second official language-Next to English.
Edited by TroyG on 08/12/05 09:11 PM.

They don't even come close to playing all the hits. I hear more variety on WFMF in Baton Rouge. It's sad when you drive around listening to a weak station just to hear better programming.

I request new and old music to B97 all the time. I know they follow playlists and all, but they never get it on. "Yeah, we'll play it," they say. B.S.

One of the part-time DJs told me that they play what they want to hear and what they think is good.

What kinda station is that?!?! And I'll bet they say "Our ratings are on top of the world!" LOL

> I was thinking to myself, Since New Orleans happens to be the birthplace of Jazz, I was thinking Either Kiss-FM(104.1) or Sunny 106.1(WKSY) could eventually do the right thing-by switching it to Smooth Jazz. This city needs to fill the C-Jazz void. First it was on at 106.7; then it was on again at 94.9. I'd love to see it come back to a great city known for romance and sin. One of these days, Both stations could end up playing Mexican if this does'nt happen.

Been tried and they haven't met the success of other towns... Maybe the birthplace of Jazz likes it old school instead?

On the spanish, It's Been discussed, probably won't happen for a few more years due to not a real big identifiable nationality for Hispanics in New Orleans right now(as they come from the carribean as well as latin America) on which to aim your station (unless you try like KLOL 101 in Houston with hurban) but then NOLA is still under the radar in the number of hispanics in the area IMO...

The black gospel on 104.1 is a wise decision if they can outdo Praise (94.9/94.7 currently) or if Praise goes off air due to CC rocking the ratings.
From what I can tell , John McQueen of Diva fame has his hands on the new 106.1 format (which is supposed to be talk)....a talk format for women perhaps? Something that I havent seen get really off the ground in other areas (women talk), but he is surprising me with the Diva format (even though I still say, he'd get better numbers by just killing the name IMO)

Yeah NOLA is built up as a romance and sin town (maybe why Urban A/C WYLD-FM is kicking it at number 2 for) but it has more of a devil may care, lets party, have fun attitude among the locals.....and after all, that is what radio is after, the locals... So you'll see fun stations and in the case of 104.1, trying to save your soul at the same time.....

> Generally speaking, Musica Mexicana es muy popular in border states(Texas, California, Arizona), Florida, Chicago, and in NYC. The reason why it's so popular happens to be the Morning DJ's. Dallas has Piolin on KESS-FM(94.5); and his fellow counterpart is Raul Brindis y Pepito over at KLTN(102.9) in Houston. Listen to them for several hours and you'll understand their language.

Not really taking a side here, but...

Puny signal aside, WEZB is the reason KISSFM doesn't exist any longer in NOLA.
______________
