Their flip to rhythmic helped forced the market to become increasingly friendly to a dance music product. It's just a shame that the tweak could change all of that. If KTFM is going to become a Mix duplicate musically (barring mixshows), then who to listen to becomes a matter of presentation. Mix definitely has the edge on the "larger than life" presentation.
Oh well, time to jump on the Party 97.7 bandwagon while it lasts.

Or does he just think his p/t prod peeps can image and street team be aggressive enough to try and compete? Did his market research say "there's a huge opportunity to beat MIX with an inferior lineup, imaging, promotion, and marketing by playing their playlist?"
Mix's cume is quite large, healthy, and growing but unless Border goes into attack mode with deep pockets to back it up, there isn't much chance that this will work. You can't tell me that this group has extra dough needed to change the habits of the 300-400k in cume they'd need to overtake MIX.
Now, if someone would just by the Border Stations then things could get interesting. Though the markets are too small and don't have the $$, a certain wizard (Merlin) sure would stir things up. Merlin obviously would be able to clean up the talk mess(es) in the 2 Border markets. And Randy isn't afraid to spend big money in the right competitive situation...
That would make for some great radio here.

What will KTFM's new format be when it switches? Any guesses? They obviously can't bring the good KTFM back.
Radioresearcher said:Adding two songs is not exactly a format change. BTW, KTFM had one of its best months in PPM in June in some key female demos. It beat KBBT in Women 18-34, and was within a half share in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 in Prime Rotator which is what advertisers buy.

It's funny that you have so much time to critique KTFM's programming when they are the station up 43% to a year ago in Women 25-54 - a very key demographic, while Mix is off nearly 50%.
