WTF VH-1 Classic??!!

Is Viacom slowly trying to destroy and dismantle this channel or what?! I see today they are running nothing but "When Bubblegum Pop Ruled the World", "Another 100 Metal Moments You Didn't Give a Rats' Ass About Then and You Still Don't Now" and other crap that they've shown ad nauseum on VH-1. Tomorrow, I noticed they are showing nothing but movies. Searching ahead, it looks like they aren't back to their video blocks until sometime on Saturday.
I wouldn't complain (as much) if they maybe ran all of their "I Love the ___'s" in a row.

WTF?!

Oh, I just heard a promo that it's their "Best of 2005" week. So, how does this programming have to do with VH-1 Classic again?! This ish aired on VH-1!!!!

If they're going to do a "Best of" type thing, why don't they do something like the "Most Requested Classic Videos" of the year...all time, etc.

Oh wait...that's actually a good idea. That's why they won't do it.

Honestly, this channel is one of the main reasons I am keeping my AT180 on DISH (in addition to having the West Coast feeds of TMC, TMC Xtra and Encore).

OK...I'm fine now.

Ick, that's one crappy schedule. While even on its good days VH1 Classic isn't really the VH1 of old like I would prefer, it beats the living daylights out of anything VH1 has run in...what, five years now? Hint to the VH1 brain trust--something that ran this year AIN'T classic. Especially when it was garbage to begin with.

It's like the old MTV2, back when it was good, who else misses it? What a shame what has become of it all...

I had DirecTV from 1999-2000 till 2001. I used to watch MTV-2 and MuchMusic (Canada) ALL the time. Then we went back to cable and I was stuck with just plain ole MTV and VH1. So for my birthday in April 2001 I asked my mom if I could get digital cable and we did. MTV-2 and Muchmuisc again! Yay. We were also able to watch MTV-2 at my sisters apartment. She didn't have cable but the building had a rooftop antenna which could pull in WOCK-CA (13) Chicago and WOCH-LP (28) Chicago crystal clear. Both ran MTV-2 with their ethnic shows.

Then Rainbow Media (Cablevision) took over MuchMusic (The US feed of the Canadian network) and started to add Americanized crap with ugly color bars. Finally CHUM voided their contract so we're stuck with Fuse. Fuse was OK at first. Now its stating to turn into a text message chanel. Just constant shows with people text messaging on the videos.

MTV-2 is sad sad sad. It was a great channel but in 2002 the boneheads at Viacom decided to screw that one up.

MTV-X was taken over by MTV JAMZ.

so I guess all we got left is MTV Hits. At least they're commerical free and program free (except for an occational rerun of TRL)<P ID="signature">______________

I have had DirecTV since 2000. Before that, I had MediaOne, and I was able to watch MuchMusic as well as M2 (MTV2), as both channels were carried in my area by MediaOne (and are still carried there today by Comcast).

All I can say on my part is, I really, really miss MuchMusic. By that I mean being able to see music videos from more Canadian artists than you'd typically see on American TV and get to catch up on what's going on in the Canadian music scene and stuff. I have been hoping that over the next few years a new MuchMusic channel for the U.S. would be launched (and be like the original MM channel was before 2001) where CHUM and an American company are partners, but it looks doubtful it could happen.

Speaking of Fuse, I have heard rumors dating back to late August that Bob and Harvey Weinstein (formerly of Miramax Films) wanted to buy the channel, to create a new entertainment channel.

But give it a year or two, and it'll become another "repurposing" channel for MTV and Viacom, just like the rest.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

From what I gather VH1 Classic will be doing the leftover crap during the days and running videos at night... I have Dish and both me and my wife liked the old VH1 classic and now it hardly ever gets watched anymore... Once they added Behind The Music I knew it was a matter of time before it would start going down hill... CC

Yet ANOTHER Viacom SCREW-UP!!

I had MuchMusic AND MTV-2 on DirecTV from 1997 through 2001, and continued to get both through AT&T Broadband/Mediacom after that.

But I too was VERY disappointed when Rainbow Media decided to start gutting MuchMusic's programming from Toronto in favor of the CRAP shows it was airing!! Once they started doing that, I all but stopped watching "MM-USA" and its morphed-form channel, "Fuse".

MTV-2 was OK until about 2003 or so, when it started airing old MTV stuff from the 1990's. Then I stopped watching that channel.

During 2001 through May 2002, I watched the Rock video channel MTV-X. I LOVED that channel!! But in May of 2002, they decided to DUMP MTV-X in favor of MTV Jams...a 2nd Hip-Hop Channel!!! I thought that that was PISS POOR for Viacom/MTV to totally trash the Rock viewers in favor of STUPID HIP-HOP!!1 :-(

Then in 2004, I switched to PrairieWave, and they had all the music-video channels Mediacom had, PLUS VH1 Mega Hits!! That channel was COO-WIL!! It played a LOT of Rock videos as well!! But on July 1, 2005 (while I was gone on vacation), VH1 DUMPED Mega Hits and MTV Networks launched "LOGO" for programming for the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered audiences!!! :-( I found that out when I got home, and the channel carrying Mega Hits was TOTALLY GONE!! Apparently, PrairieWave isn't carrying "LOGO" (Thank God11), but I think that this serves as YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE of how Viacom has BURNED us!!! :-(

Why...WHY...are MTV/VH1/Viacom doing this CRAP?!?!? WHY are they "re-purposing" all their channels to show ALL CRAP PROGRAMMING?!?!?

Don't those people KNOW that we, the viewers, HATE that programming?!?!?

Who do they think they're catering to with this SLOP?!?!?

They're CERTAINLY NOT catering to ME, or hardly ANYONE ELSE as far as I know, from the replies on this board, anyway!!! :-(

What is it going to take to get MTV/VH1/Viacom to bring back GOOD programming onto their channels...including the ORIGINAL MTV & VH1 channels???
