Subject: LOOKOUT TRIAD!

We are excited to announce that starting Monday morning the Morning Rush anchored by KC and Carmen will be shared across the Piedmont region of the state on WRDU 106.1 FM in Raleigh and WPTI 94.5 FM in Greensboro.

For over a year and a half the Morning Rush has been a ratings performer in the Raleigh market. Now they are having the opportunity to create the same type of rating success for Clear Channel in Greensboro as they do every day for Clear Channel in Raleigh.

We are very proud of the overall performance of WRDU and in particular our live local morning show and now we will be giving more people an opportunity to enjoy KC and Carmen in the Greensboro High Point Winston-Salem market.

When you see KC Carmen Chrissy and Jason congratulate them for this recognition.

If this is true....

Does it really shock you? Clear Channel is just an abomination...Dimitri is gone from the website Newsman TJ is still around. I'm sure they'll still "Commit" to local news for another few months before he gets the axe.

****in ridiculous that company is just disgusting.

Makes sense for Clear Channel and the Shareholders

2 Quarters gone by and their not making X Amount of dollars with the new morning show host that your brilliant programmers brought in from Pittsburgh isn't adding up

By the way is WSJS just planning for the return of Rush? They still have a legit news staff with some local programming.....If they got back Rush they would prob start making a climb back in the ratings picture

Knowing stupid Clear Channel they'll give this Raleigh simulcast 4 months then flip the station to Hip Hop

It's just like what happened at Cumulus in Fayetteville. WFNC-AM had a live and local morning talk show with Jim Wood weekday mornings. Their morning drive started with "Fayetteville's Morning News" from 6-8 (which was just rip and read when I was there), then they went to the talk show from 8-10. Cumulus laid off the producer of the morning show and now they simulcast the morning show from their AM station in Wilmington. Are Wilmington and Fayetteville the same market? I hardly think so. With NO resources and little promotion, Jim did a hell of tha job on that show. I believe he is still working there. Their site says he hosts the 'Trading Post' show on Saturdays, but still they killed a great morning show on WFNC-AM. Now, to my knowledge, there is nothing local on that station, except the spots, but lots of those spot breaks are filled with PSA's. It's sad, because the station has always maintained an audience and numbers.

Re: WFNC
Jim Cooke still does the Swap Shop Saturday mornings 8-10.
On Saturday afternoons, Stan The History Man takes calls for an hour or two.
On Sunday afternoons, Dave Taylor takes calls for a couple hours.
Sports Blast on Monday night 6-8pm.
High school football in season.
I only know those shows exist because I actively sought something on the radio and found them. I've never seen another ad for any of them, except Sports Blast on facebook. They are probably all brokered time though, not actually "Cumulus programming." It all comes out of "the Cape Fear Drugs Studio" though.
Other than that, I can't think of anything local.
And all their news is straight out of the paper.

KC and Carmen being on in Greensboro and Raleigh will be the same as Curtis Wright being on the air here. They're two different markets, even if Radio-Info coalesces them into one board. :D

Better yet... bring back the Spanish station ;D

you realize stations pay to simulcast the talk that Clear Channel has....

They probably make more money just simulcasting out Rush and Hannity instead of half ass'd attempts at making A Morning Show, not to mention a radio station

So far they've now had a lite rock DJ and a random guy named Dimitri from Pittsburgh and neither of them lasted 10 months

Time to flush rush radio down the toilet

I agree you figure it out...20 months on the air and two failed morning shows. I still thinking they could go back to Spanish and give a run to NORSAN. I still remember their morning show was the same for the 4 years, and the ratings 18-34 were always in the top four and 12+ usually were top ten. Also I understand they sold the station very well.

There is no competition with Norberto. The difference in what CC and Norsan are or were doing is like night and day. WIST is just there with zero local programming and very little street activity and it shows in the ratings. WIST was pulling better numbers as a Classic Country station. Seems to me when they switched to Hispanic there would have been an up tick for WBRF in Galax and that has not happened either. Oh well, you can lead a horse to water!

Flush Rush! Flush Rush! CC and that frequency had finally found their niche with La Preciosa and they dumped it!!! You've just gotta wonder.

Might want to follow the thread on changes at WSJS and the CMG Winston-Salem cluster.

Bottom line is that CMG has the potential to put some kick back into both WSJS and WPTF and take on Rush with a well produced, regional show that concentrates on things that are important to North Carolina. First rule - keep the sales manager away from the studio! Don't be concerned if the show steps on some toes - Rush made his fortune (and the fortune of hundreds of radio stations) by being controversial. No one listens to a show where every body agrees with each other!

I just happened to notice that they still give out "919-860-1061" as the show's phone number. That's poor form when you're supposed to also be "homed" in the 336 now. Is CC too cheap to spring for a toll free number?

Does the signal of WRDU reach the Triad?. If it does, WSJS could put together their own version of "The Morning Rush". I remember back in the day when Howard Stern was just starting out on his empire. He started on "K-Rock" (New York), then simulcasted on WYSP (Philadelphia), and a while later on WJFK (Washington, DC). The point is he spoke mostly to his New York audience. Although one of his first goals was to destroy WMMR's John Debella (Philadelphia). After that, he talked with Andy Bloom PD of WYSP once in a while. The only thing I remember he would say "WJFK Radio" and gunshot noises whould play in the background, which I thought was in extremely bad taste.

I like WRDU's "Morning Rush" and feel a local show should stay local. (No offence to our friends in the Triad).

Howard Stern doing something in bad taste? Surely you jest!

And I'm sure most of us Triad posters take no offense and agree with your statement that "a local show should stay local". But its a new day in broadcasting and we will always long for those days of yesterday with fond memories of Arthur Godfrey, Don Mcneil's Breakfast Club, Paul Harvey and all the others (even if they weren't local). Oh how I miss the FCC rule limiting one company to owning only 7 AM, 7 FM, and 7 TV stations. Sorry to get carried away, but I haven't had my morning meds yet.
