WTH WLSW?

Sometimes when I tune into this station, the cuts they are playing just seem....off. Like the versions are not by the original artists but by someone along the lines of "Hit Explosion" (you remember those cassettes they tried to pass off at discount stores). Has anyone else noticed this?

"Yes, 25 of the very greatest hits are here on LP, 8-track or cassette! Performed by The Soundalikes.
These are the actual recordings!! Not available in any store! Operators are standing by.
The world could end tomorrow, so order yours by midnight tonight! Just call the number on your screen,
or send $8.95 for LP, or $10.95 for 8-track or cassette, to Fabulous Flops of the Fifties,
P.O. Box 1985-E, Frankie Valley, California 90023. All rights reserved, except where prohibited by law."

I heard a version of "Lola" the other day that sounded like Ray Davies recorded it in his car. Actually kind of interesting. I enjoy the complete distortion of the whole station, too.

Garnet, that's another thing I noticed....like instead of the original recordings, they watched one of those PBS oldies shows and taped it and are playing that back instead. Then they'll go and do something uber cool like play the entire 12 inch version of one of David Bowie's 80s songs.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for NOT sounding overly polished, in fact I prefer it, but this is getting a little bit silly.
