WTH

Why are these great songs sliding down the chart? NICKI MINAJ-Pound The Alarm,DAVID GUETTA- I Can Only Imagine f/C. Brown,USHER-Numb and CHRISTINA AGUILERA-Your Body. While these songs get wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much airplay MAROON 5-One More Night(This song sucks),FUN-Some Nights(fair),TAYLOR SWIFT-We Are Never Ever Getting back together (I can see why Taylor Swift is getting so much airplay cause of the teeny boppers) ALEX CLARE-Too Close(This song is not to bad)! Maybe it's me! Really Im more into music that keep you movin!!!
R.I.P. 106.7 THE BEAT

In some ways it could be you because my favorite songs from the list are

FUN - Some nights
Nicki Minaj - Pound the alarm
Maroon 5 - One more night

I hate

Taylor Swift - We are never ever getting back together

and I don't care for Christina Aguilera's song.

The rest I like, but they are not top favorites that I'd be quick to place into my mp3 player.

Nicki Minaj - Pound the alarm love it!!! I can even do Neon Trees-everybody talks. Muse-madness Not to bad. Now Kings of Leon awesome they had a few great hits! But Fun-some nights and Maroon5 one more night BLAH!!!

Only song on that list I am not planning to add to my IPod or haven't already is Usher - Num, that song is ok, but not my favorite. I have always been a fan of Maroon5. Least favorite song by them would probably be Sunday Morning. Moves Like Jagger was ok, but got really old really quick, kind of like Addelle's Rolling in the Deep.

The callout on Nicki Minaj and David Guetta's latest tunes has not been good.

Nicki Minaj's latest track has a bullet of +1100 on the pop chart - are you talking about Pound The Alarm?

The dance trend seems to be slowing down a little. I've noticed more rock music and R&B songs without a club beat lately on pop radio. Even some hot AC stations, like the one where I live, has been playing "Girl On Fire" often.

As for the Taylor Swift songs, pop radio seems to target a female audience. I recently read an article somewhere on this website about pop radio and "moms and daughters". Maybe active rock is the only music format that mostly targets males? I don't know. I just know that I like the variety on pop radio lately and hope that more upbeat rock songs and dance songs cross over.

It does seem that there are a disporportionate number of female-targetted stations to male-targetted ones. Let's see, Hot AC, CHR, Rhythmic, AC, and Classic Hits/Oldies on the female side while all the men have is classic rock, active rock, and alternative, and I don't know where country is supposed to fall in that. I'm not sure I believe that research myself though, as you'd guess I was a 20-something female by my listening habits. I do have some rock on my IPod, but if that were to be put on a station, I think it would resemble that of an AAA rather than a true alternative.

Same here. I'm a young man and I actually like a lot of that AAA music that is too soft for the headbanging Active Rock radio stations. "Little Talks" is what finally got me actively seeking out that type of music. I also like some of the upbeat dance music that typically only gets airplay on pop stations. Most rock stations seem to play very little music that is influenced too much by electronic sounds. These days, that "Too Close" song by Alex Clare and "Madness" by Muse seem to be about as far as rock radio is willing to go.

Agreed. I do think though that the local active rocker here KISW is a bit softer than a typical active rock station. My rock station would most likely be a lot like the Click concept, some harder stuff mixed with some lighter stuff. Not a huge fan of Little Talks.

In general, I think that a majority of at-work and daytime radio listeners are female, though
