WTHZ App to Change COL

WTHZ (94.1) has applied to change its COL from Lexington to Faith, NC. Faith is about 2 miles south of Salisbury in Rowan County.

How do applicants arrive at the COLs they choose to "re-locate to"? Sometimes I see a "method to the madness" when multiple stations are wanting to change facilities and a community does not need to be left without a local service if they previously had such. There are dozens of other towns and communities in the same vicinity of the proposed tower site that WTHZ could have chosen.

We've heard rumors from time to time that DCBI was trying to make a deal to sell WTHZ to BGEA.

If that deal comes to fruition, the change of COL to Faith will be a perfect fit!

If nothing comes of it, at least they have a BIG 4th of July celebration to cover each year, and they can do live remotes from Blue Waters Pool.

L-a-t-e-r .- .- .-.

I had heard that DCB had finally been granted a permit to erect a tower in Rowan County. They have been pursuing this for years so the station could be sold as a Charlotte station for more money. Maybe they're moving forward with those plans. Being located in Faith would be great for Christian Broadcasting!

Can you provide a link to any of this actions (FCC)? Thanks

I also heard that Norsan Media could be looking on buy it. That will be a surprise if "Gig" will allow the station go Spanish.

"NO, NO, NO, NO -- 1,000 times NNNOOOOOO..............." -- with blood shooting out of my eyes!!!!

The next thing we'll see is the "crown jewel" replaced with a sombrero atop the Bank of America building.

If Gig can get the money he wants and spend more time on the golf course, he wouldn't care if the Korean's bought it for a missle launch.

Two things. 1) His Mother just passed away last year and she was the owner and didn't want to sell. 2) Gig wanted a tower in Rowan County and has pursued it for years so he can sell the station as a Charlotte station and make more money. Unfortunately, when his Mother died, the economy took a nose-dive, so not a good time to sell, plus he was still waiting on the Rowan County approval, which I understand he recently got. I don't see much standing in the way now, provided he can get the offer he wants. 8)

But Charlotte has no oldies station (and the closest station they have just added what may be the first of many talk shows). It would be a perfect place to movie Majic.

However, I am alive and I will oppose this action

Wouldn't you stand to make more money when you get hired for The Wizzy Wacky Morning Zippy Zoo Show on a station that's NOT owned by your relatives?

I'm not looking for a Job! and I don't need any money..has nothing to do with either..It has to do with the localization of both stations which has gone South steadily for years! Everyone seems to want to be something they are not and way too much money has been wasted on this folly! Since 1946 these outlets have provided more than gracious compensation for the people involved. If I had my way, I would take it back to the 60's era when we had real radio in this country. Greedy (Yep, Greedy not Greeley) people will not be rewarded in heavenBIGAPE< ROCKNROLL

Why would w-thz want to change their format? Their ratings are doing well. And thankfully we in charlotte got a 1/2 oldies station out of them. This move could help charlotte. Their format generally is pretty good other than the classic rock side. Please no spanish format or talk. The loss of majic 96.1 in charlotte was really sad..

No reason for them to change format, BUT, if someone else buys the station it will be up to them.

I've heard that if congress passes the performance royalties thing, they'll go talk or sell to CBS, which is REAL interested in putting WFNZ on FM
