WTIC-AM falls to #3

I went all the way back to the Spring '04 book and this is the first time I've seen WTIC-AM listed as other than #1 or #2. WTIC and WRCH have always been the #1 & #2 stations, swapping positions back & forth.

Now WTIC-AM is #3 with WWYZ moving up to #2.

He's looking at the 12+ numbers, and yes, they're not the important ones. Except they are. Number one 12+ still gets some automatic buys, and a strong number two will also.

What's scary isn't the ranking, though. The 12+ number is the lowest I've seen it. TIC-FM was higher in the 80's and it was the bastard stepchild in the building. Of course, that was when there was less competition and more money being put into the product....

I wonder if they are falling due to thier crappy analog audio now... (Due to IBOC)

What if a station tried to force the same bitrate on thier analog audio even though they are running IBOC??

Interesting that WCBS showed up in the Hartford book too. Does that happen much? I know they're here in New Haven a lot, but the signal is much stronger down here.

WCBS-AM comes and goes. I've never seen them appear with more than a .7 share. WFAN is consistently in the book month after month usually with about a 1.0. Both WCBS-AM and WFAN share a tower on High Island in the Long Island Sound about three miles north of the Throgs Neck Bridge.

I used to listen to WTIC in the Chicago area, until WNWI went full time.
Unfortunately it is now all foreign language programming so 1080 is a frequency I haven't any use for.
Where I used to enjoy 2 stations on 1080, now I can't enjoy either. This is considered progress. ?

The Dude may have a point about IBOC. I'm across the country with occasional visits, but out in eastern Connecticut, TIC always came in strong and it sounded great. Now, though, it's hard to pick it up in the car as far west as Manchester sometimes. And it does sound terrible. Ear fatigue is very dangerous in radio. I know..."duh."
