WTIC's Stan Simpson Gone

Please allow me to get up on my soap box and rant about CBS radio Hartford.First I would like to say that I have commended them in past for
keeping the local news top & bottom of every hour and not taking the CBS feed like KXNT their news/talker in market#33 Las Vegas which is
mainly all satellite. And in this day in age when the likes of WABC are 90% satellite it is nice to still have local talk shows dealing local and state issues. It has been well over year since CBS radio has cut jobs at all of their stations a cross the country, but they continue to find excuses to cut more jobs. This brings me to Stan Simpson perfect local show for a Saturday morning with a lot of commitment to the community.I have to ask how much money is CBS radio saving by not having Stan do the Saturday show?Let's say he's paid $200.00 per show that's$10000.00 a year.Plus I would think he's considered part time so no other benefits have to be paid. This is nothing to a billion dollar corp. Now last Saturday Ray Dunaway did the show live on location for the annual salvation army fund raiser. But is Ray going to continue to do 6 days a week. Or are we going to get another barter type show like ( computer talk or law talk).I'll continue to listen as long as they continue to keep it live and local. But once they start feeding their local news from other markets I'm gone. One last thing if anyone from the WTIC engineering dept is reading this fix the stream.I listen many hours a week on line and after all these years of streaming you still can't get the breaks in sync. The on line spots run right though the news or weather or both! Fix it already. Talk to CBS radio New York they have it mastered.

My guess is the time slot on Saturdays - much like the future of AM radio, more or less - is going to be brokered.

A GM many years ago at CBS of Hartford (then it was Infinity) told me. "Station programming is just filler for commericials"
It's all about the bucks, brother! CT corporate radio motto is the cheaper the better.

Stan Simpson could run brain circles around TIC management.

Why would TIC cut him loose. He's on a weekend shift? How much could it cost the station or ratings? I think these decisions are made for idiotic reasons. Typical corporate radio BS.

They may have to take a show on the weekend as part of a deal they are taking during the week. It may have to do with a contractual sponsorship. Don't know, don't agree.
