WTIS 1110 off the air or on greatly reduced power?

Just curious if WTIS is on the air; if someone currently in Tampa or St. Petersburg knows. I'm about 53 miles n.n.e. of Tampa and yesterday around 4:30 PM WBT 1110 Charlotte was booming in w/o a trace of WTIS in the background.

Normally WTIS is very weak but receivable here in the area between Ridge Manor and Webster and today when I checked around 1 PM.....nothing....... and today around 4:15pm WBT again was booming in.

Seems as though more and more stations (especially AM) are just leaving the air; in this area 1170 has been off the air for half a year and even an FM WKFA 89.3 has been off the air for the past two weeks.

drt,
not in St. Petersburg

Thanks for the suggestion, but the website does not make mention of any problems with the broadcast signal, but on the other hand, their stream is not available now (the website mentions that the stream is available 24/7, so I would say there is a problem with their web stream at this time-Saturday evening);.......... so I still don't know if they've been on the air this weekend; even if the stream may have been working earlier.

Here in Tampa, checking at 10:40 am this morning (Christmas Day), WTIS 1110 is definitely off the air. That's amazing, wonder what the cause is.

As of 8:05 this morning (Monday), WTIS 1110 is still off the air.
As of 830 this Monday morning, I was picking up the bottom of the hour news, weather and traffic from WBT, Charlotte; when I turned my radio toward the n.w./s.e. I was just barely picking up another station and by process of eliminination, I'm thinking it was a station on 1110 out of Centerville, Alabama.

When I return to St. Pete later today, I will be curious as to how soon this afternoon, WBT begins coming in; assuming WTIS is still off the air.

I am curious whether the fact WTIS is off the air is due to cash flow problems or technical issues that they may not be aware of, since any of the few listeners probably haven't called and left a message, since there are a variety of other stations with pleny of infomercials and talk those listeners can turn to.

I have verified that WTIS is back on the air. In a phone call, they said they had experienced technical problems, but they were almost back to full power. They expected to have their problem resolved soon.

I never listen but was tuning past a few days ago and heard Roger P Schulman (sp?) on morning drive news and bantering with their morning guy. It was nice to hear him, always thought he was good in his 970 FLA days.

I heard that voice too, and I was wondering if that's who it was. Good to hear Roger is on the air somewhere locally.

WTIS' Facebook page confirms it is him.

You obviously have never met either one of them.
