WTKE 1400 Fort Walton

I passed through Fort Walton this afternoon and noticed that WTKE 1400 was on the air. They weren't simulcasting 98.1 The Ticket though. They were playing the "Dead Doctors Don't Lie" radio show that is (or was) a staple on WRJM. I didn't get to listen very long. I didn't hear any station IDs or any other shows.
Have they started a new talk format, a brokered format, a simulcast of WRJM, or is this just a freak case of them breaking away from simulcasting The Ticket for a brokered show?

Wouldn't do us any good the signal can barely be heard at night. (or day)

What FWB needs is an FM talker. Since a lot of us in the styx can't hear WFTW and WTKE 1400.

If/when ***. FWB goes HD, maybe one of the stations could carry 1260 on their HD-2 channel.
(since talk only requires about 24-32K per channel/mono)

Again, just my opinion.

Sand is not a good conductor. In fact, it is an insulator (glass is made from sand).

On the other hand, salt water is essentially a perfect conductor.

When I owned 1400 (then WNUE), I could pick it up fairly well at Panama City Beach (+-60 miles), but would pretty much lose it less than 10 miles north of the tower.

18 years later, and I'm still making payments on the debt from that SOB!

I heard Casey Kasum mention 1400 fort walton on an old AT40 from the 80s. Was it a pop station back then?

Jay: Believe it or not I could listen to 1400 all the way to Port St. Joe. Several years ago I recieved an offer to buy a couple of AMs in that same area, for a dollar down, and several grand a month for etenity. If anyone ever tries to sell you a radio station in that part of Florida, run.

I was in Fort Walton again this morning and 1400 was simulcasting The Ticket. I guess they are slowly trying to break away 1400 from the Ticket simulcast. I wonder if they have any other shows besides Dead Doctors Don't Lie?

The AM differs from the FM as such:

11-1 = Bill O'Reilley live
1-3 = Dennis Miller
3-4 = Dead Doctors Don't Cry/Lie/Buy hosted by that vet....and I don't mean someone with military experience.
