WTKF-FM In Morehead City Planning To Boost Power and Switch Frequency..

According to www.radio-locator.com, WTKF-FM in Morehead City recieved a
"Construction Permit" on October 11th to boost their power from 7,000 watts
to 48,000 watts, in addition, they will eventually move to 107.1, which should
give them better coverage, especially toward Jacksonville, where they simulcast
with WJNC-AM 1240.
As i looked at their future coverage area, the signal will still be marginal in
Onslow County, but will they keep WJNC as it is or switch to, maybe, a "sports"
format?, i welcome your inputs...

I see they're remaining at Open Grounds Farm on the WFXI-TV tower, most likely due to spacing with WSFL 106.5 (on the old WCTI tower in Trenton) and WUIN in Carolina Beach (106.7) and others. They would be wise to get a hold of another FM frequency for a full market FM talk signal, given that Eastern NC's not exactly known as an AM-friendly market due to its sheer size and other factors.
